Bad Sign For *: Few Flags Flying This Labor Day

At least here in Vegas.

Time was when even the most-negligent fair-weathered patriot would get their flag out and act all proud on the major holidays. Driving around Summerlin today, I'd say maybe one out of every 100-150 homes had their flags out.

NB: I flew my flag every day for about a decade. Flew it when Poppy was around and when Clinton was around (I didn't have a house before then, so it was moot point). When bush was elected, I stopped flying it for a while. Put it back out at half-mast after 9/11 and flew it for a month in mourning. I took it down when it became apparent that bushco would exploit those deaths and our nation's sorrow for their radical ends. Maybe they stole my flag from me, but that's just how it is - I will not fly my flag again until they're out of office.

holiday, since it sort of glorifies the struggle of labor unions against big business. I'll bet they would love to change the name to reagan day or something.

I'd hang a black flag, or a red flag, especially on labor day. . .since this started out as a somewhat socialist holiday anyway. I'd probably stick to a red flag, though.
