Why is there no well-wishers thread for President Bush????
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 08:17 PM by napkinz

Where are the prayers and well-wishes for the president, who is suffering from a severe and advanced case Slyme's Disease? Where is the humanity!

FYI: Slyme's Disease is contracted from the bite of an infected politick. Among those most susceptible are pols who try to pass the buck. Symptoms include a persistent smeark and a deer-in-the-headlights look. There is no cure. To minimize the ravaging effects of this disease, the patient should be interminably sedated (and a colonoscopy should be performed to check for brain damage).

18. Why didn't anyone see "it" coming?
"Any student of Bush family campaigns could have seen the swift boat shiv shining a mile away. This old family has traditions – horseshoes, fishing, bad syntax and having the help do the dirty work in campaigns as well as the kitchen. And they are very good at getting jobs done without leaving fingerprints, without compromising their patrician image and their alleged character.

Even the audaciousness of this year’s episode is not surprising. Who would have believed that George Bush, with all the trouble over his National Guard service, could get John Kerry in hot water for his combat duty and medals in Vietnam? Well, anyone who saw what George Bush did to former POW John McCain in the 2000 primaries, which was even more outrageous."

in January. And I wish him well on Election Day 2004; he'll need it, seeing all those electoral college votes slipping into the Kerry column. May he come up with a minimally embarrassing consession speech.

23. A PRAYER FOR THE ELECTIONS
Almighty God,

For more than 200 years, men and women of faith and courage have laid down their lives to secure freedom for this country. Blood was shed-and continues to be shed-so that Americans may enjoy liberty, democracy, and the freedom to worship without fear of reprisal.

Because I am free I can choose between candidates and issues in the upcoming elections, I can vote according to my conscience, and I can voice my opinion. Because I am free I can choose my profession and I can worship according to my convictions. Because I am free I can share the Good News of freedom in Jesus Christ.

Thank You for allowing me to live in a country that makes it possible to follow Your divine call on my life. Thank You for instilling in the hearts and minds of our country's forefathers the importance of freedom.

When I consider times past and present, and countries near and far, I count myself blessed to live in the freest country of all. Thank You for allowing me to live in a country that is truly free.

All creation senses a pulsating rhythm deep within to live free. That yearning follows the blueprint of a greater freedom: freedom from the bondage of sin and death, freedom from the law that brings condemnation, freedom to follow Jesus.

As Americans continue in the footsteps of those who have gone before them, may we experience the freedom that comes from You. May we intuitively know the difference between liberty and license. May we use our freedom to serve one another in love. And may we yield to Jesus Christ, the giver of true freedom.

Amen.

25. (continued)
Sovereign Lord, we ask that you would give President Bush wisdom to know how best to handle each and every issue that arises, and leadership to pull his cabinet and Congress together to do what is right, just, and good.

Help the Christians of the country rally behind George W. Bush and pray for him persistantly and consistantly, and specifically as each new issue arises. Help "Praying America" respond to each new issue (and each issue "in the news") with heartfelt and steadfast prayer, and continue backing the president in prayer as the months and years roll on.

These things we pray for the President, his cabinet, and Congress: that they would discern the right thing to do and do it, regardless of the politically expedient thing; and that you would continually purify their hearts, their minds, and their motivations; and if they will not be purified, let them be replaced with those who will be.

We ask that President Bush would continually, persistantly adapt his will to Your will and his ways to Your ways. Lord, we ask that You will use George W. Bush to accomplish Your perfect will towards this country, and that we will return to purity of heart and conscience before you; give us your heart towards other nations, and help us to do your will.

Prayers For President Bush
