Conservative, means against change or cautious.
Bush and the GOP say they are looking to the future but that goes against the idea of conservatism. Conservatism means you do not like change.

3. Then Bush/GOP are not conservatives.
The GOP has done irreparable damage to this country since 1980. The middle class has been on the decline sine the 1980's. The constitution was rewritten for the corporation. Individuals rights have been diluted to almost no existence.

The GOP are supposed to the law enforcers and Constitution defenders but all they do is destroy it.

2. Also - literally - they wish to "Conserve" what they have....leading to...
greed...their perception of Liberals as push overs, bleeding heart do-gooders, etc. It is all so strange, since many are very religious, yet the religion most of them practice is not of any Bible I've read!

6. error! Conserva. is polite term, but NOT essense of RW. the essence of the
RW is

greed-sadism personality.

most core is probably a liking for pain. {s+m}.

so LW is a liking for pleasure
RW is a liking for giving and receiving pain.

Closely tied to pain in the RW mind, is greed. A result of this is that they do not mind seeing pain result from their theiving.
They like to see the pain.

Conservative is a minor facet of the current greed-sadism mind.
But if we were in Utopia now, and fascists tried to drag us down from Utopia, then progressives would be the conservatives, trying to hold onto Utopia.

Dont waste time analyzing conservatism.. it is a non-core facet which is not essential to the RW mind. It is a convenient term for being polite when referring to pain-lovers who are highly greedy.

7. The Bush administration's radical departure from decades
of foreign policy status-quo is about as NON-conservative as you can get.
