Lets face it most Americans are ignorant on the facts.
The American electorate is the most ill informed electorate in the modern industrialized world.

The Media is largely to blame but I can see though the garbage,

Lets face it most people don't react till the sky falls. They do nothing till it slaps them in the face. There is nothing a person can say or do to these kind of people.

1. News as entertainment
Most people are too lazy to watch (or, god forbid, read) any news that isn't shocking or entertaining. Thus the appeal of Fox "News"

2. Yes, that is true
But that's the way the Reps want it. A stupid electorate keeps them in power. You think those rednecks are gonna pick up the New York Times? Nah, that's because Faux has 'em convinced. Enslaved. It's sickening. . .and It probably WILL take Junior stealing another 4 years to wake them up.

10. Another four years of "junior" and it's too late to wake up. The SCOTUS
will be top heavy with ultra conservative fundie nutjobs. FOR LIFE.

3. You said it!
I've been debating with some people on a site in Lima Ohio and it's amazing!
NO ONE arguing for the administration seems to use solid facts.
The Democrats and Anti-Bush* Rebublicans (me) have all the facts, but these people just keep singing along with the scripted garbage they're fed!

Here's the site if u want to peruse it...

http://www.limaohio.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=28

Feel free to chime in if you have good solid facts too - it's interesting to see all the Democrats with facts and the 'Rebuplicans'
with precontrived rhetoric.

6. I argued with a guy in chartroom.
He said Clinton called off agents to kill Osama bin laden. I asked he to prove it he said he had a relative In the CIA who worked in Iran or some crap. I agree yo present the facts they dismiss them and quote Faux news.

12. He did call off an attack.
And being braindead, I cannot give the facts. But I remember reading it. It was a meeting where they knew he was present, but there would have been too much collateral damage to the surrounding community. So he called off the attack.

7. Wow, Dr. eldritch
So you being a disenchanted Republican, what do you think of our little site here? Has your experience been good so far or do you find yourself grinding your teeth a lot?

14. actually I'm very impressed with this site...
Number one-

This is a VERY well run and entertaining site.

Two-

People here seem to be more open to facts than elsewhere.
(I believe this to be a result of the massive amount of facts which clearly show the incompetence of this administration.)

Three-

People seem to be fairly genuine here.

For the moment I am absolutely dedicated to getting this buffoon out of the white house. I have Republican friends who agree with me- the rest watch Faux News.
(I DO like Bill O'Rielly for his entertainment value even though he's quite an obvious pundit... reminds me of a much younger and less beholden Limbaugh.)

After we evict this corrupt administration I hope to still be welcome here - but I'll understand if I'm not.

My experience here has assured me that there are true American patriots in the Democratic party.

That makes me very proud.

I'm sure I'll be a staunch Republican supporter again if we (Republicans) get our party back. I'm sure to have good arguments then as I do now.

TY

15. Bush claims to be a compassionate conservative, but he's neither.
As a true Republican, I imagine you're pretty pissed at the amount of government spending going on, as well as the assault on basic liberties. In 2002, I was still a Republican, nominally, but I switched parties because of *.

17. One of my favorite movies of all time!
I was quite conflicted to see several Republican administrations engage in deficit-spending.
I didn't care that it was the Clinton administration that balanced the budget. (so what if he had a great economy - he could've spent it but didn't.) That was a plus.

These morons have to go.

4. I partially agree with you
I think many people vote on image over substance. You'd think that if that were true the Bush would be in deep doo-doo. Not so. He's got this Uncle Joe Six-Pack thing going for him that a lot of common people relate to. Not that that is who Bush really is, but I think that is the perception that a lot of people have of him and I think that is the perception that BushCo is trying to create.

Where I disagree with you is the idea that nothing can be done. What you have to do is show people how Kerry will be better for their pocket books. That's about the only thing that trumps image for the uninformed voter.

My apologies if this sounds elitist, but I think it's just a simple fact.

8. Some still do not listen to reason.
They believe the myth that Democrats raise taxes and GOP lowers them. Lets face ti both raise taxes now and then. The GOP just shifts the burden onto those who can least afford it.

Most Joe six packs blame their high taxes on welfare and crap, even though many of them use these programs.

Lets face the facts this country still has major racial issues.

Some rednecks would rather starve than not be racists. It is the only thing that makes them feel superior when they live in their trailers.

5. Yeah it is sad.
To see your country brainwashed to the point they can not even think for themselves. I ca not believe so many people hear someone of power speak and they think. 'They would never lie to me'. If they are in charge they must be smart.

9. Yikes! Let's have some respect for the voters -
they are the democracy we are fighting to protect - no?

Granted, most people aren't as informed about world and national events as folks on DU. But hell, most of them don't have time to be. They have kids, jobs, friends, activities in their communities, etc. that fill up their lives. It's our job as people who are tuned-in to this stuff to help inform voters while still respecting that politics may play a small part in their thinking.

Yes, I wish the media did a better job (understatement!). You are so right about that!

America DID NOT vote for him last time! The Supreme Court voted for equal protection for W, not equal protection for the voters.

They've been taught to be intellectually lazy. It's not "cool" to be interested in reading or the arts.
