Bob Beckel on challenges "likable" meme about Bush on Fox
One of the memes that the media 'hos keep spouting is how Bush is so personally "likable" and has the affection of voters. Kerry has a challenge because he is not as likable.

Problem is Bush is the opposite of likable to a huge number of people. He gives a sizable segment of the population the willies.

Finally, someone challenged this on TV. Bob Beckel on Hannity and Colmbes when confronted with this lie took it head on. He said Bush has an unattractiuve and arrogent personality is NOT likable.

Thank you Bob.

2. Bob Beckel is usually blunt and fearless on the tube.
And inflamatory.

I've got to include inflamatory.

And he's got a mean streak. I like that most of all.

3. Oh, man, is THAT overdue
Bush strikes me as the mean little rich kid who bribed the bullies to beat up all the smart kids. I see him as an instigator. I find very little charm, no class, no sparkle, little intelligence, and certainly nothing I could possibly like.

He's OFF the list of potential dinner guests.

4. FINALLY, finally someone told the truth. This 'likable' description in
reference to bush* has always confused me. bush* is not likable. He's arrogant and annoying. Why people always say he seems like a regular guy amazes me. He's so phony, and I truly believe that the phoniness is obvious.

7. It wasn't Hannity
It was anotehr repellant right winger, Joe Gallager.

Beckel was really pissed. Rich Lowry of the National Review was also on. It almost looked like if Beckel had been in the same studio, he would have physically gone after Lowery.

This guy's got the fire that's needed.

6. Unleash Beckel!!
I say unleash Beckel, unleash Howard Dean, unleash Carville and Begala, unleash Max Cleland and Bob Kerrey and attack these bastards mercilessly. We can OWN September by turning the cannons on Bushco and stop this press whore lovefest by taking the offensive.

9. I think Beckel is a Fox "consultant"
If so, he has a contract to only be on them. (I'm not positive, but I beloieve I heard it somewhere.)

The bad news in that is that he can't make the rounds on otehr outlets. But the good news is that one of the meanest Democratic pitbulls is regularly on Fox. He's tough enough to maybe get through the fog of some of those Fox viewers.

14. i don't think that's true, he has been on other channels, unless it's a
recent thing. i sure can't see fox news hiring someone as good as he is. they usually hire alan colmes types to represent the "democratic/liberal" side.

8. Bush is a repugnant Republican.
The only people who seem to find Bush "likeable" are reporters. I don't like reporters either.

10. I'm another who has never been
convinced that Bush is remotely likable. He comes across as a total jerk. I'm reminded of guys I knew -- and rarely dated -- back in my youth. You can tell a lot about someone by their facial expressions and body language, and Bush is so obviously a self-involved arrogant asshole. Yuck.

17. During the last election a journalist wrote this..
.. I'm paraphrasing here.. he wrote that Bush was not as dumb as people thought, but he's not as nice as they think, either... And, that Gore is not as intelligent at people think, but he's a lot nicer than they think. He was making the point that Bush is made to look likable and dumb, but he's actually quite shrewd and mean. Bush has a hand in the political attacks, but his specialty is looking as though he doesn't.

16. thank you!
smirking obnoxious drunks are mighty low on my likability scale.

I can't watch his speeches, even though I feel I ought to, because I just am so repulsed by him - and I know a lot of others that feel the same.

19. Beckel criticized Democrats for "airing their dirty laundry" re: the
campaign staff changes....of course, he just had opined about how all these things could indicate problems in the campaign, even after Colmes offered him an out..."Is it really a problem or not?" sort of question.

He's no different from all the rest, loves to hear himself talk. The difference is he can land one on Bush at the same time he's offering criticism of Democrats in the same way as the Dems he criticizing!!

23. He's honest, and that makes him more credible
Beckel's willingness to criticize Democrats gives him more credibility, IMO.

The dirty laundry is out there anyway, so it has to be acknowledged and dealt with.

Those Kery spokespeople who go on and say "Everything is fine with our campaign and we're not changing anything..." immediately lose credibility. It sounds out of touch with the reality that many Democrats are frustrated and worried.

Better to be honest, as long as more of the fire is directed at Bush and the GOP.

and they are firmly on Bush's side, but they honestly admit that he is not a likeable person.

28. THANKS!
It baffles me that anyone can stand the guy!

I love the "unattractive and arrogant personality." SOOOOO true.

Would Bush ever bring his mom golden leaves in the autumn when she was too ill to see them for herself? He didn't even visit his kid in the hospital when she had surgery!!!! Just said she'd better come out ok or else!!!

UGH!
