and upset, demanding this to be fixed, I say, screw it then. I ask you, what message did you send to America when Floridians re-elected Jeb Bush in 2002? And what message did Floridians send when Katherine Harris was elected to House of Representatives? I think it sent a nice loud message that black people in florida are NOT counted!

What message does Kerry send when he doesn't EVEN talk to black people about this and PROMISE that this time it will be different. He needs to energize the black vote, and by doing that, you need to get black people involved in your party and campaign.

3. Only first time voters

are required to bring ID. I think that also means first time voter in that particular precinct, so if you've moved and haven't yet voted in your current precinct, have ID handy.

I'm kind of surprised that very many people seem to leave home without ID of some kind with them.

Oh, and social security card does not count as ID.

4. I forgot my wallet last year...

and only had to sign a form saying I was who I was. 'Course, I'm white, as were 90% of the other voters. I thought if was a federal law; anyone know?

6. Voter ID laws vary by state

Some states don't require ID at all. In Alabama, there's a long list of what form of ID is acceptable. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean individual poll workers couldn't make arbitrary decisions about what they will accept. A current driver's license is the best bet. But it would be a good idea to have other things on hand just in case.
