It would be a bad idea. Think of some of the recent cabinet appointments (by chimpy, by clinton, etc etc) that have turned sour once the candidate was fully vetted. Plus, you have a lot of folks who are interested in positions working their butts off for you. Picking cabinet members before the election would not be a smart thing.

Who ever it is, Obama has to name his Treasury Secretary right after the election because he will be attending those global econ meetings with Bush and Paulson
