6. Bush's people are in a trance after going through the exaustive process of
being checked thoroughly before seeing their Fuhrer. Plus Chimpy has always given the same speech for nearly 4 years.

9. If the local news stations cover it at all
they'll have to find space to squeeze it in between the local human interest stories and NASCAR......and of course, in Greensboro-Winston, 30 seconds of Presidential race......5 minutes of NASCAR

11. Well in Durham NC they showed the whole speech LIVE so
it made our local news media.

Another poster here, from Greensboro, said that a local station there carried the whole speech live.

5. Notice the new message on the sign: A stronger economy = a stronger
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 12:19 PM by AP
America.

This was one of the arguments Edwards made in his convention speech. He said something about talking about race. Said why it was important (because it made a stronger American) and then segued into talking about national security.

What he did was very sophisticated, and very FDR-ian.

Repubs say that we should accept a weaker economy so that we can be stronger abroad. It makes no sense. It's really an excuse to transfer a lot of wealth to really rich people and then tell the people from whom they're taking the wealth that it happened because of international threats (when it's really happening by design through the tax code and handouts to the rich and to Halliburton).

Democrats, like FDR, say that the only way America can be strong is if its constituent elements -- the working class, the middle class, each individual citizen -- is as strong as possible. On a very obvious level, this makes sense. How do we pay for anything if we aren't productive and working, and maximizing our potential? On a more philosophical level, what citizen would fight for America if America isn't fighting for its citizens? FDR knew all these things.

I'm really glad Kerry is putting this message right up there on the sign.

10. I bet Bill Clinton told him to do that during their conversation this past
weekend.
