Alright...when does the Coke Story break big?
So far only a motley few outlets have carried it.

How long until it really busts open?

5. Kitty Kelley's book.
She claims that george II snorted coke at Camp David while george I was president. She claims it happened more than once. Look through the GD and GD2004 threads. There are lots of them.

9. Please. I thought there was a corporate problem at Coca Cola.
And I KNEW about the cocaine at Camp David.

BTW, there's nice alliteration there: Coke at Camp David. Cocaine at Camp David.

10. Don't get your hopes up; this will get buried by the press as well
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 12:22 PM by MindPilot
Just another falsehood cooked up by the LIEberal media to discredit our god-appointer protector.

He could be on video hoovering a rail off a hooker's ass on the Oval Office desk, and the media would tell us that he found Jayzuuz so it's OK.

There is probably nothing Kitty Kelly has to say that anyone with two brain cells and a modem didn't know four years ago. Nobody cared then, why do you think they would care now?

Wake up and smell the bushit.

But if JK pissed in a cornfield 20 years ago, they'd say it was indecent exposure & the media would be on it like flies :eyes:

larry thurlow. "Embraced" isn't the word I would use to describe matthew's response to the story larry was peddling that night.

18. Chicago Sun Times and Boston Herald have published story
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 12:31 PM by rmpalmer

Let's see if it gets a toehold.

From Daily Kos:

Kitty Kelley's publicist must be smiling this morning. So, too, is Matt Drudge. News of the book's shocking Bush family revelations is starting to spread in perfect cadence to the book's September 14th release schedule.
First, the London Daily Mirror broke the coke story. Matt Drudge then headlined the Mirror report. The Times of India picked up the Mirror's version.

With the buzz going abroad, it was too much for two U.S. newspapers to resist, though both tried to temper the news with misleading headlines. The Chicago Sun-Times headline: Book: Bush 'did coke at Camp David' years ago. The Boston Herald: Book: Bush once snorted cocaine at Camp David.

The Sun-Times added "years ago" to their headline. (It was about 12. That's at least arguable.) The Boston Herald, however, got the headline wrong by inserting the word "once," and it clashes with the second paragraph of its own story. (The book alleges multiple cocaine episodes at Camp David.)
From a book publicist's point of view, this gradual ramp-up of interest in the book is perfect. It means the book will be in the news for many days as more and more media outlets are dragged, perhaps reluctantly, into reporting on the book.
