Obama Wages `Uphill Battle' to Wrest West Virginia From McCain
A survey of Bridgeport shoppers put Illinois Senator Obama close to McCain in support. The Republican is still ahead in state polls, though the fact that the Democrat is competitive at all in such a culturally conservative area is a surprise.

``It's a state that is capable of voting for Obama,'' said Clyde Wilcox, a government professor at Georgetown University in Washington who grew up outside the town of Fairmont, West Virginia. Even so, ``it's an uphill battle.''

It's a battle Obama is waging. The campaign has started pouring money into advertising. His running mate, Delaware Senator Joseph Biden, visited Oct. 24.

2. This makes me so happy. Win the state or not, Obama will be their President too.
They didn't get much Obama love in the primary.
