Brokaw calling for coalition government if Obama wins
He claims that he is going to need republicans to figure out the mess the republicans made. This dinosaur is out of his mind. It's time for the republicans to go away so the grown ups can try and clean this up. If Obama wins with over 52% why should he invite any republicans in? In modern terms that is a mandate.

27. Gawd, Brokaw is an even bigger asshole than previously thought. The pathology of 'pukes is
both holistic and ubiquitous. :P

when they win.

4. Talk About a Last-Ditch Effort!
That's nearly obscene!

The Republicans are all going to jail. There won't be any sufficiently unstained GOPpers left for government service...with the exception of those who the GOP "leadership" dislike and distrust, the real mavericks like Olympia Snow.

5. Expect him to do just that. Maybe Chuck Hagel in the cabinet.
He's a big fan of Lincoln and history and will most likely have at least one or two republicans on hand to balance his cabinet.

9. I was just going to say, there still are a *few* "normal" Republicans.
Not many, I admit. But having a few selected R's involved seems to make sense, both politically and substantively.

8. perhaps he forgets which country he's in
This is not England. We elect our President directly here. Obama, should he be elected, doesn't have to get 'help' that way to get his way.

What an ignorant comment.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Brokaw">Wikipedia:

Tom Brokaw dropped out of The University of Iowa, where he says he majored in "beer and co-eds" before receiving his B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1962.

Guess he has a Mooselini hard-on. :eyes:

16. Brokaw is the worst of journalism
I don't mind if journalist have an agenda as Brokaw does. It is when they try and pass that agenda off as being impartial that bothers me.

I believe things like this are a direct attack on democracy and are nothing short of propaganda. Brokaw and his employers should be ashamed of their actions, they let his NeoCon handlers interject bias while still claiming impartiality.

20. Brokaw is right... but for all the wrong reasons
Obama is going to have a bi-partisan cabinet, to some extent.

Even before he takes office, we can expect him to have bi-partisan economic round-tables and such.

Brokaw's real interest in making this argument is about BROKAW, not the nation. He knows he's been a foolish partisan and I'd wager somebody close to him has challenged him in private on his politics, since that Powell endorsement.

I think that's why he was so harsh to Mccain, to prove himself the moderate critic.

He knows Obama has this won, and he's trying to be relevant...

The few remaining liberal Republicans can join the progressive realignment of American politics, but the rest of the GOP are unfit to govern.

25. I agree
They should divy up the responsibilities as follows:

1) Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld -- send them personally to Afghanistan to find Bin Laden

2) Congressional Republicans -- their job is to vote "No" on every bill introduced by the Democrats in Congress, because it's just awkward when they query "Nays?" and are met with silence

3) Democrats -- take care of everything not covered in points 1 & 2.

29. No, Tom, Barack does not need Republicans
He'll probably have a few be part of the cabinet, choosing the best. But the GOP has become a bunch of crap-tossing fools. As the Washington Post pointed out "The cause of Edmund Burke, Leo Strauss, Robert Nisbet and William F. Buckley is now in the hands of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity."

Obama will go this route. They will contribute, and their presence will be another way to show how unreasonable the hard-cores have become.

33. That's an argument some made for Bush in 2004.
I can't remember now which newspaper it was that endorsed the Chimp, saying that since he created the mess, he'd be more motivated to fix it. :eyes:

At some point, time's up. This is that point.

34. Obama said he would use Doris Kerns Goodwin's book about Lincoln to guide his choices
Lincoln had a sampling from all across the board so that they could wage war and deal with the divided aftermath.

We are a 40/40 or a 35/35/30 split country. If he is going to bring the rhetoric he has used to fruition, you might want to start accepting that we might have to put up working with these people.
