Limbaugh says liberals are waiting breathlessly for 1000 GIs killed.....
Yes, Rush, like we were when we hit 100 deaths....like we were when we hit 500 deaths. We are breathless. Now we are about to hit 1000. How many have to die before it becomes important to Rush Limbaugh and the right-wingers? Is it insignificant to them?

1. Man. I'm not holding my breath to see 1,000 people killed
in a unnecessary and unjustified war. If it reaches 1,000 deaths, it will only go to * and the Republican's heads.

45. But he's right.
We HAVE been waiting on 100o deaths. I know I have. We've been saying it for weeks - "wait until the 1000 deaths are reached". We've speculated about the affect it will have on the shrubs numbers.

I hate Rush, but he's right. I for one have been awaiting 1000 dead for weeks. And if it takes the death of another GI to beat Bush, then so be it.

Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 01:00 PM by StClone
It won't bother him if there were 10,000 dead or even 100,000. His side wants you and your children to die a glorious death so he can point out how Liberals, as he wants his followers to believe, revel in a soldier's death. He lies. We never wanted this war. We want our soldiers home. We wanted the money spent in Iraq to be used wisely. Why does he want our soldiers to die needlessly on foriegn soil is the question.

More than 1,000 casualties

http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/index.html

(page 15)

Juan Cole (with an assist from a reader) notes on his blog today that the anticipated death of the 1,000th American soldier in Iraq already happened sometime in the last few weeks. According to the military and foreign policy watchdog GlobalSecurity.org, by the end of August 1,012 U.S. service members had died.

Why haven't you heard about it? In part, statistical methodology. GlobalSecurity.org states in its methodology section "at times our total count can be rather larger than the numbers reported by some news organizations. We list a number of people as unidentified pending notification of next of kin. We count people as soon as they get killed, while others wait until they are named."

While the "official" 1000th death will probably be announced sometime this month, there's another big story out there along with that somber milestone. In August, GlobalSecurity.org reports, the number of U.S. soldiers wounded in Iraq doubled to 1,112 from the July total of 533, making it the worst month for American casualties since the war began.

38. Limbaugh got dishonorable mention in Stars and Stripes yesterday
Strong leadership?

What an “Alice in Wonderland” country we live in, when — if you have a combat record, served your country honorably and sustained wounds/received medals to prove it (as did John Kerry, Max Cleland and John McCain) — you are subject to dirty tricks and a political smear campaign spearheaded by those who claim to hold “unity,” “family values” and “love of country” in high esteem.

Conversely, you are considered a “strong leader” if you chose not to serve when called upon and have no war record, but rather opted for the “campaign tour,” missing a year of duty in the Air National Guard during a time of war, as did President Bush.

Vice President Dick Cheney’s five deferments during the Vietnam War (his “expectant parent” deferment having been created especially for him) are likewise considered “strong leadership” traits as are the deferments of Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, John Ashcroft, Saxby “bad knees” Chambliss, Tom Delay, Karl Rove, and Rush Limbaugh.

But, oh, how they love to bang the “bring ’em on” war drums, as long as somebody else does the fighting.

Does America wish to imply that it’s better not to serve at all? If so, then something is terribly wrong with how we define honor, courage, leadership and commitment to our country.

You might be more persausive if you try to understand where they are coming from.

Conservatives I know are bothered by how much they hear some of us talk about the dead. If you keep repeating something it sounds like it pleases you. Of course the truth is, they keep hearing from different sources because it is the truth.

You might want to talk them about how sad it is we had to go (some thousand) miles to go to a country to destroy their cities and kill their children. That way you are inviting to share in your grief, instead of attacking theirs.

Also, think how bad it be if you started getting all sarcastic about the war dead ( even if you are really trying expose Repub hypocrisy)
and it was one their own children.

The rethugs are good at innoculating themselves and sowing seeds of cynicism and doubt about events that help their opponets politically. This is a good example--rush turns something that should damage bush into apretty effective (with the rethug base) attack on us.

Why can't our people do the same thing?

"The president had to bring in Jim Baker to remove debates from the schedule because he is petrified he''ll have to defend his record without a script."

71. I Blame This Man for all of the Hatred in Politics Today
He is the biggest hate-monger that ever lived and doesn't even deserve to speak. I hope he rots in jail before he goes straight to hell.

72. Yes
I wait every night all night long for notice of every GI; US and UK and "coalition" soldiers' deaths.

I have done since the invasion began, Mr. Limbaugh.

You see, I believe every one of them is worth knowing their name, worth counting, worth saying goodbye to.

So every night I sit and watch for their deaths, so they may be at least counted, by name, on the ICC.

I know all their names, Mr. Limbaugh. How many of their names do you know? Why are they not worth counting, worth remembering, worth saying goodbye to, to you?

73. what we are waiting for is the ANNOUNCEMENT of the 1000th..
soldier killed in this bullshit. If you honestly believe that this war has claimed the lives of less than 1000 soldiers, you are sadly mistaken. How many have died after being evac'd out of Iraq? All we hear about is the KIA in-country. Never once have I heard that a soldier at Landstuhl lost his life to grave injury.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, and every last mangled soldier shipped out of the 'raq lives to see another day. Somehow, I doubt it.

75. Limbaugh is one of the most treasonous, un-American citizens
this country has ever known. He is a danger and a menace to society. I could think of a couple hundred more things to say about this SOB, but frankly, I won't waste my time. I'm preaching to the choir here.
