Why didn't the venom of the GOP Convention negate *'s positives?
It seems to me that the most public face of the convention was the Zell Miller-Dick Cheney show on Wednesday: a repulsive, hyperbolic, angry venom-fest devoid of all vision or hope for the country.

Sure, the GOP faithful loved it, but how could a handful of undecided voters LIKE it? I suppose they must've, given the polling numbers.

I just don't get it.

1. I don't think you're seeing true polling numbers...
And I think the sour taste of the hatefest is going to linger...with or without the media discussing it.

2. The polling numbers were phony.
Shrub supposedly dropped from an 11-point lead on Saturday (Newsweek & Time) to a 7-point lead yesterday (USA Today) and a DEAD EVEN race today (Gallup & Rassmussen).

People saw the negative, hate-filled, venom-spewing convention for what it was.

3. It's weird isn't it?
Bush smoothed it all over real nice at the end. I am stupefied.

6. Moral of the story: Don't believe every poll
Undecided voters probably didn't watch the Miller/Cheney hate-fest. Most probably didn't even watch Bush's speech.

9. I don't mean THAT kind of "positives."
I'm talking about the shiny, happy "compassionate conservative" face he pasted on for his speech.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no amount of Orwellian doublespeak or pleasantry that Bush could ever muster that would counter the hatred that poured out of Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

I'm trying to get inside the head of an undecided voter: WHAT could they have POSSIBLY seen during that toxic display of bitter partisanship that would make them want to vote for *?

10. What venom? There was venom? The media said no such thing.
The media told me it was a strong convention and "on message". A win for the Bush/Cheney camp.

Venom happened? If a tree falls in the forest and no one sees/reports it, does it make any noise?
