4. Yes, she's married to Dan Mulhern
And she definitely is one of the smartest Democrats around. She gets a bad rap because of our bad economy, but she was left with crap when Engler left and our Republican Senate's main goal in life is to thwart everything she wants to do. It was even worse before we took back the House.

8. Just out of curiosity, do Michiganites call him First Dude?
Oh wait, here's his picture. Forget I asked.

12. Our Michigan GOP is so sad
Michigan has to have one of the worst Republican parties in the country. They do nothing, complain that things are going poorly, just so they have something to run on. Granholm has done a very good job. It's scary to think of how bad things would be if DeVos had won. I think Granholm may have a position in Obama administration (Attorney General?). If she did leave, it would be sad to lose her but I would be happy for her.

16. I just got off the phone and had the same conversation with my friend
I, too, think she'll be offered a job with the administration. I would really, really hate to lose her before her term is up -- I so want her to accomplish everthing she wants to do and she needs the next two years to do it. I want to see her vindicated. John Cherry is a great guy, but I'm just not sure about him as governor. He certainly doesn't have the charisma Jen has. That being said, I would be very happy for her and I think she'd do a great job at whatever President Obama would offer her.

19. YES! I want vindication too.
You know Nolan Finley, Saul Anuzis and the rest of the do nothing Republicans are going to say, "At least a President Obama will get Granholm out of Michigan." Part of me wants her to stay just to prove them wrong. I truly believe she has done so much good for our state and I want her to be here to see us turn the corner...which I think will happen if she stays until the end of her term.

I'm also a little iffy on John Cherry. He could be good but we need great to go up against the Republicans (likely DeVos again) in 2010. We can't risk another John Engler.

I'll be happy for her but wouldn't mind her staying and maybe taking a court appointment after her term ends.

23. I feel exactly the same way.
We need someone with charisma to go against DeVos or whoever they put up. I'd really like to see Dennis Archer run, and I think he will. I don't know who else we have who is strong enough to pull it off after what a lot of people perceive to have been a disaster. I don't see Jen that way at all -- she was dealt a bad hand and has made the best of it. I really think she can turn it around if she finishes her term.

2. I think I know her dad!
I have Googled, but can't confirm it. She's just as cool as he is.

She was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I think I took chemistry from her dad.

Yay! Whatever. It's all good...

10. She moved to California when she was 4
and I think lived there until she went to Harvard Law School. According to Wiki, she lived in Anaheim, San Jose, and San Carlos.

They both went to Harvard but I don't know if it was at the same time. I think she went there a few years before he did.

18. She'll be 50 in February
so she's a bit older than Barack, but they certainly could have been at Harvard at the same time, even if not in the same class.

7. I think she meant it in a generic sense
In other words, that a governor would be qualified based on job description and duties.

11. Well, that goes along with the Obama campaign
Obama/Biden have gone out of their way to not call Palin unqualified. I think she probably knows Palin isn't qualified but isn't saying so for political reasons.

14. She's a great person!
You're fortunate to have her as gov.

I like ours too: Christine Gregoire. I just hope Chris can hang on to the governor's office in this election. If Washington votes for Rossi, I'll tear my hair out.

21. Oh, me too!
I'm afraid we might have another one this time. Rossi is running against her again. If he wins, it will taint my joy at an Obama win, because it will be just like Bush moving here and taking over. :scared:

I've had the pleasure of meeting her and talking with her a number of times, and she's just wonderful. This was taken at her New Year's Eve party after her re-election two years ago.
