Mayor Daley: Obama Rally Could Have Over A Million People In Attendance
Mayor Daley predicted Tuesday that more than a million people would descend on Grant Park for Barack Obama's election night "celebration" and said the city has no plans to screen people entering the park.

The mayor said "everybody's talking about" the Obama celebration.

1. I'm three hours from Chicago
and may just show up. I've been to Grant Park when there were probably 750,000 people there for Blues Fest, and this could well top it. It should be one hell of a party.

4. The Secret Service
Better be all over this place. 950,000 of the attendees will be people jumping up and down with excitement.. but 5% - 50,000 are going to be rabid, pissed Freepers ready to take their anger out on the guy who they think took a job he shouldn't have been allowed to have because he had the "audacity" to be born black.

So, i'm just saying.. a million people will be awesome to watch - and I know he'll be safe... but I almost wish that Obama was tucked into a ballroom with 1,000 of his biggest donors, his family & close friends smiling and taking it easy.

6. We have to have faith that the Secret Service will continue doing what they have been for the past
20 months, protecting Obama with everything they have. This is going to be one hell of a test though. I was wondering how on earth they plan on screening 1,000,000 potential attendees. Fingers crossed, and knocking on wood that everything will be safe and fun.

11. Unfortunately, I suspect that is going to be a fraction of the solution.

7. If the SS has been able to protect the most hated man in the world all this time
they should be able to protect Obama

Then again, 99% of the rabid, murderous potential assassins out there were on Bush's side

14. If that's a good number, just how do you go about 'screening'
1,000,000 people in any meaningful way? Better to pull the perimeter in tight around the principle and let the crowd have a good party.
