1. Not very well.
Not very well here in Michigan at all. But, Kerry has a strong group of supporters out canvassing and they are not doing great reporting on Bush at all...except to sort of snicker over his Traverse City speech a week and a half ago...and compare it to the job loss rates. :hi:

2. that's sad cuz
cable news is a lost cause and i was hoping local papers would carry his messages better.

but I think michigan's going to kerry either way, so i guess it's not so bad in that case. :)

3. I have been writing letters to the editor, calling in on Sound off in our
local paper. People, we the people, are being heard. That's what counts.

4. The Dayton Daily News and Springfield daily
Are actually pretty good. They report facts, they reported the midnight rally crowd numbers accurately, and they don't resort to slipping in 'snarky' comments. Not only that, but the Springfield paper was good about reporting locations, shuttle points, etc. that they really didn't have to do, though it is good community service. Imagine a daily newspaper performing good community service -- takes me back to my youth!

Can't speak for any other dailies in Ohio, though I'm willing to bet the Cincinnati Enquirer reports smears, lowballs crowd estimates and resorts to 'snarky' comments to the point entire articles consist of nothing but. I don't know this for a fact, though. I know how they were in '96 -- you'd have expected Clinton to fly to Mexico in shame, with his tail tucked between his legs, from the Cinci Enquirer's reporting, editorializing and smears.

6. Well, we are in an unusual circumstance, here.
Dayton, Ohio is the home of Cox Publishing, which was founded by a very progressive politician -- he served office in Ohio, and was a staunch Democrat -- so I think there's some sense of the necessity to provide at least a few crumbs of fairness. For a city that depends on the DOD (Wright-Paterson AFB is here), the newspapers here and in Springfield are about as even-handed as I could expect in the current media atmosphere.
