Hey asshole, welcome back! GOPisEvil was here in L.A. a few weeks ago, and once again, we had to make do with a 2/3 Asshole Reunion!

We are fighting like hell!! Nini has practically been put in charge of one of our local Obama offices, and Nevada has been one of the PRIME targets. I have been busy at work (where the no-politics rule is ignored en masse), using my persuasive abilities and armed with FACTS, committing some undecideds and fencesitters (and yes, I told them I do NOT understand undecideds, but they are voting Obama now, so there!)

ONE MORE WEEK.

17. Well me and one other (who showed up) made 145 phone calls tonight

in a couple hours while the other GOTV team was knocking on doors AND I know we both voted early.

Our little red neck o' the woods county is a battle and I'll admit, sometimes it's hard to pick up the phone and start punching numbers never knowing if we'll get hung up on or fussed out :S

We will NOT give up on these hopeless racist imbeciles until the polls close on 11/04.

I'd missed seeing you around! Glad to hear you are doing ok and still with us.

I work down the hall from the place where you go to early vote in this county. You can mail in an absentee ballot, of course, but if you want to just vote early you have to go to a county office to do it. Since early voting started there have been lines. I'm talking about LONG lines that stretch AROUND the interior halls of the building. People are waiting two or three hours in line to early vote.

Not only are they waiting, but they are just so amazing with HOW they are doing it. There isn't a bunch of carping and bitching. There is none of that anger that people develop when they stand in a long line. This is just big bunch of people waiting patiently to cast a vote--and they are TALKING to each other! They are having actual conversations about substantial things and they are doing it while they are waiting to vote.

I get kinda choked up every time I go anyplace in my building. Its kinda embarrassing at times but damn--I have NEVER seen anything like this in ALL the years I've been in politics and social justice. I talk to people and I congratulate them for just BEING there, and they all seem to understand and forgive me for being a little misty eyed.

I early voted last week here in Illinois--along with the REST of the crowds and it was an amazing thing. For the first time in my adult life I was voting FOR something and I was allowing myself to (just ONCE!) hope that I'm not being lied to and that enough other people will see that same potential for our nation that I do.

There were a few elections over the years that I honestly thought the American people would surely see the horror of one candidate or another, and I was disappointed every time. I survived Ronnie Raygun and Daddy Bush and the last 8 years and I cried on EVERY f**king election night because I knew full well we were all screwed because not enough people understood what or who they had voted into office.

Matt, I am telling you that there is no way any of us CAN get lazy or even step outside this election. It is just too powerful and too large for anyone to escape unscathed. People are moved this year in ways I have never seen before, and probably never will again.

Peace to you. I'm working GOTV again this year--like I have EVERY year--and I'm sure you will be too. We ALL will, in a way, because I just don't think it is possible to sit this one out.
