1. Democrats only just overtook Republicans there in registration.
They had a huge deficit for years. My guess is Obama is also winning independents by a good margin.

28. Welcome aboard!
Not only did you make a wise choice for president, but you have become a member of a terrific on-line community. I am a life-long Dem, but when I landed here I was woefully mis/under-informed. I am continually grateful of being able to log on and have access to facts and wonderful, thoughtful people.

4. On the contrary, these are great numbers

80% of all early votes are absentee, rather than in person. Usually republicans vastly outnumber democrats in absentee voting.

5. For the 100th time, if this includes absentee ballots, this is AWESOME.
If it doesn't then we should be "concerned".

9. Maybe this is why it looks tighter - get ready to get MAD
The crucial swing state of Colorado is the latest state in which some voters might not be able to cast a ballot because of a technical mistake they made when registering to vote. Colorado's Secretary of State Mike Coffman, the state's top election official and a Republican, has deemed over 6,000 voter registration forms incomplete. Steve Fenburg of New Era Colorado estimates that there may be as many as 10,000...

MUCH more...

15. Barely...
"After all, as of September, Democrats had come within 73, 634 voters of Republican dominance. This latest breakdown shows Colorado with 955,428 registered Democrats, 1,029,062 Republicans and 1,022,575 Unaffiliated. The post-registration deadline October tally could be even closer."

18. That's about 2 percentage points, back of the napkin math.
We've won plenty of elections statewide with numbers worse than that.

That must mean that Obama is doing well with Republicans in CO? or at least with independents?

11. Remember these are NOT votes
CO is a state where you must register by party (or independent). We don't know how many ppl who call themselves GOP voted for Obama (or god forbid, the reverse).

It might be an indicator but is there any proof it is an accurate predictor of the vote let alone even early voting?

22. Colorado is mostly Independent voters. This looks pretty good to me
I think Obama will win CO by at least 5 points as independents are falling heavily into Obama's column.

23. It's not a worry at all
Democrats just took the lead in voter registrations for the first time ever. Seriously, we took the lead like two weeks ago. What's more, as we all know absentee voting usually favors the Republicans. Lastly, as long as the independents vote strongly for Obama as the polls suggest they will, then we've got no worries as they are still the largest group in the state.

25. Colorado isn't a Southern or Appalachian state
Where you have to wonder if the Dems are really Dems. In fact in Colorado McSame is the one who has to worry if a Repuke is really a Repuke. Oh and Obama is way up with Independents. This breakdown is not bad news.

26. Even if 95% of the Dem and Rep voters so far went for their party candidates, the fact that the 23%
of No/Other are mostly for Obama means Barack has a significant lead.

What does that mean? We show up "day of" while Repubs do their deal uber early. Obama's been trying to get the "day of" thing out of our system.

Florida and Iowa is looking great too. Ooh, check out Maine, Nevada, New Mexico...If In-person favors Dems we're doing great in TExas.
