Poll Closing Times by State

Here's a basic list of the poll closing times across the country. There are some states with split closings...

* 6PM (ET): Indiana, Kentucky

* 7PM: Georgia, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia

* 7:30PM: Ohio, West Virginia

* 8:00PM: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee

* 8:30PM: Arkansas, North Carolina

* 9:00PM: Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, Wyoming

* 10:00PM: Iowa, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Utah

* 11:00PM: California, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Washington

* 12:00AM: Alaska

3. California closes at 8:00pm Pacific time, not 11:00.

What hours are polling place locations open?

All polling place locations are open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.




EDIT: I noticed that all times in the OP were Eastern. That's a bad idea. The times should be local time for each state, because otherwise people in the western half of the country could miss the "Eastern" portion and think their polls close later than they actually do.

6. I know.
Eastern time is media time. I have to subtract 3 hours from everything too

You could post a message on DemConWatch at the link in the OP. Maybe he could set of a chart for the local time zones.

7. IN and KY are 7:00
The time is 6:00 but parts of both of those states are on Central Time. No network will report anything until ALL polls have closed in a state. 7:00 will be the time that we actually get some real data.

You have FL correct however by listing it as 8pm. 7:00 is poll-closing time but the panhandle is on Central.
