Elizabeth Dole: "Our Love of God" is at stake in this election
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 02:12 AM by ccharles000
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole has joined Robin Hayes and Virigina Fox in running a divisive campaign intended to pit neighbor against neighbor here in North Carolina. According to Dole it isn't just her seat in the Senate that is at stake. She told supporters in Nash County on Sunday that,

It’s not just to save this seat; we are trying to save the values that we care about in America. We’re trying to save honesty and integrity and hard work and personal responsibility and love of family and love of God. That’s what this is all about, and it’s a serious time.

That's right. According to Elizabeth Dole if Democrats win there will be no more honesty or integrity in this country. Nobody will work hard ever again and we won't take responsibility for our actions. Finally, if Democrats win there will be no more loving our families and loving God is most certainly out of the question.

Elizabeth Dole, that genteel southern belle, is spreading a message of hate and fear. Like Robin Hayes and Virginia Fox, Dole too will fail. Days after Hayes was caught lying about his statement about liberals hating real Americans which was made in front of a crowd of thousands, he gave Elizabeth Dole a check for $1,300. He might have done her a bigger favor if he had tipped her off to the fact that making comments intended to feed on fear and hate aren't working as well as they used to. Hayes might have given Dole $1,300 but his hateful comments put over $80,000 in Larry Kissell's campaign coffers.

Folks here in North Carolina are getting tired of the hate. I don't know anyone who actually believes that those who now love God and love their families will suddenly decide to stop. Oh, I know. That whole love of God statement was code intended to feed on this "Obama is a Muslem" meme running rampant through Republican ranks. The "love of family" part was code intended to feed on anti-gay marriage sentiment found on all sides of the political spectrum here in North Carolina.

The words are all code intended to excite the basest fears of the Republican base in this state. They are words intended to feed on fear, anger and hate. Dole is banking on the fact that these emotions, if stoked properly, will turn out voters.

Enough!

Kay Hagan is an Elder in her church. She teaches Sunday School. The Hagan family lives in North Carolina and the Hagan kids were raised here. Kay and her husband Chip have taught their children the value of doing good works in the community. On Christmas mornings, the Hagan family goes to the Bell House, a residential facility for adults with severe disabilities and they cook breakfast for the residents and staff.

If you don't want to take my word for it, take the word of her long-time minister, the Reverend Joe Mullin. Click here to listen.

Does this sound like a woman who doesn't love her family? Does this sound like a woman who will promote hatred and fear? Does this sound like a woman who as Senator would encourage people to stop believing in or loving God?

Enough of pitting neighbor against neighbor, Elizabeth Dole!
Enough of the phony fear, Elizabeth Dole!
Enough of the lies about Kay Hagan, Elizabeth Dole!

Enough of Elizabeth Dole.

3. there's so many threads, but I caught this one
and it is disturbing to here these wackos intertwine belief in a higher power being at stake if the Democrats are elected. They are shameful! I posted yesterday about Palin saying, "HEAVEN FORBID" that Obama win the election.... sick sick sick sick sick sick! What a VILE couple women these two are...

thanks for the post - it's clearly a coordinated attack by the GOP to say DEMS are "godless antiamericans", clearly.

God bless America and the poor who have suffered under the most disgusting president this country has had that lives NOTHING that Christ taught in his policies for American citizens.

12. Obama was right - those bitter Americans who cling to their god and guns will need to be given hope
I find it fascinating that the one person running who has the most integrity is being fear mongered by a person with nothing to give and quite possibly has little or no integrity.

After all if one knows something to be a lie or falsehood would a person of integrity repeat that falsehood against a good man in order to win an election for themselves?

so divisive and they use religion only when it's convenient for them. Bachmann being "hot for Jesus" is another nut that I hope is out of office after November.

14. Evidently, the Republicans that call God into politics don't realize that Obama symbolizes the
original intent of Christ's teachings and sayings much more than they do.

Christ was an advocate for the poor and sickly. So is Obama. The Repubs aren't.

16. Someone Remind Libby Dole That Jesus Was A Liberal...
Obama is only advocating a progressive tax, but Jesus was much more assertive:

"If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered."

-Proverbs 21:13

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy."

-Proverbs 31:8-9

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

-Matthew 6:24

He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished."

-Proverbs 17:5

"He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich--both come to poverty."

-Proverbs 22:16

"Jesus answered, 'If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.'"

-Matthew 19:21

"He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses."

-Proverbs 28:27

Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

- Luke 12:33,34

Indeed, liberation theology, which the Right Wing Christians consider leftist, is based on this quote from Jesus:

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18-19)

Just as we talk about how Big Media has become a propaganda tool for corporations, it seems that religion in America has also been similarly hijacked. Afterall, how can the Evangelical right wing support a Republican party that has turned its back on the needs of most Americans?

17. The "My God Is Better Than Your God," (if you have one), ploy is not working
Elizabeth Dole, that genteel southern belle, is spreading a message of hate and fear.

That's right, and only in the last two weeks or so has she even appeared in her own ads. She is not mentioning Hagan by name, but the wording of the few points she outlines suggest that anyone who disagrees with Dole, even if only slightly, is a tax and spend Socialist, who is actively promoting the destruction of American freedoms as we speak.

For months, all of Dole's ads have been produced by the NRSC, an organization that Dole herself nearly drove off a cliff in 2006. They have lied about and distorted Kay Hagan's record, and have suggested that being a State Senator has given her more power than the President and the entire Congress combined.

So, Hagan countered with the "old geezer" ads, produced by the DSCC, which are so funny and successful, Tweety played one on Hardball Monday. You can find them on YouTube. Just type in "old geezer."

It's going to be close, but I'm calling it for Hagan. Elizabeth Dole can't move "back home," because she hasn't lived in NC for forty years!

19. Remember when Liddy used to be one of the more reasonable sounding Repubs?
When she had a shred of dignity?

The GOP has no idea just how much damage Bush and the talk radio/freeper fringe have done to their party.
The only Republicans you could consider even slightly moderate these days are Arnold and Charlie Crist

20. She is going for the "Yeah, we killed anti-KKK commies in Greensborough Nov. 3, 1979
and still hate Joann Little crowd. In August 1975, Joann Little, a 20-year-old African American woman, fled her jail cell in Beaufort, N.C., after killing the white deputy sheriff who had attempted to rape her.

I remember seeing a hand-out on a United Klan of America information table in Fayetteville, N.C. saying this woman deserved the death penalty for killing her rapist.

Dole know the fuel is there to light a hate fire, and she's not above doing this.

News at the ABC affiliate where I live in NC showed clips of a washed up pathetic looking Dole saying that she won't pull the ad. Kay Hagan insists that the ad is pure fabrication since she never heard of any so-called 'Godless Pac' and the fund raiser in question featured several prominent Democrats including John Kerry.
