Well, my all-time favorite will probably come next week ("OBAMA WINS!!"), but until then....
I remember reading about this, but on-line I only found this version from January.
Illinois' junior senator is now a household name. But less than four years ago it was very different. The 911 terrorist attacks weren't so distant then and the hunt for Osama Bin Laden was still regularly in the news. I was covering a news story in the Metro East where I ran into a politically active Democrat from northern Illinois. She was wearing an Obama button. At the time he was a little-known state legislator from Chicago who was a longshot in the Democratic primary race for U.S. Senate. I mentioned her button to her and admitted I didn't know much about Obama. She said she'd gotten many strange looks because of the candidate's name. Then she said she'd just attended an event at the White House and shook hands with President Bush in a receiving line. She said the President did a double take when he saw her button and wanted to know what it meant. She told me that after explaining who Obama was, the President said, "Never heard of him." Her response: "You will." How right she was.http://www.beloblog.com/KMOV_Blogs/reportersblog/2008/01/obama-now-weve-all-heard-of-hi.htmlGot story? Please post!
