Lieberman to lose committee chairmanship
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/29/12353/920/92/645721

Democratic leaders are discussing a major reshuffling of Senate committee chairmanships, according to multiple sources, and the proposed changes include ousting Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) from his coveted chairmanship.

Lieberman, a former Democrat who supports Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president, is likely to lose his gavel on the Homeland Security Committee he has chaired since January 2007, say the sources who see him being replaced by Sen. Daniel Akaka (Hawaii), the committee’s third-ranking Democrat.

Lieberman spokesman Marshall Witmann dismissed the speculation, saying Lieberman "is focused on doing all he can to elect John McCain as president rather than post-election Washington politics."

One Democratic source said Lieberman is not likely to lose his position in the Democratic caucus, even if the party picks up several seats in next week’s election. While Democrats could approach or exceed the filibuster-proof threshold of 60 votes, they may still need Lieberman’s vote often.

This is the best of all world. If Lieberman wants to remain in the Democratic caucus, let him be an irrelevant backbencher, an idiot useful for his occasional key vote (like EFCA), but without any power to shape the Democratic agenda.

And powerless, he may even be motivated to switch to the Republican caucus for a committee ranking membership, still vote with Democrats on the occasional key vote (like EFCA), and have an even tougher re-election battle in 2012 than he's already likely to get.

That's what I call a lose-lose for Lieberman, and it couldn't have happened to a more horrible person.

Oh, Hell YES!

complete with gambling problem. CT repukes proceeded to "cross over" to Holy Joe, joining indies and DINOs (remember, Lamont only won the Dem primary by a hair).

The hell of it is, CT doesn't even have a recall provision. Even if it did, there'd still be a repuke governor to contend with. :eyes:

Jan 21st, he would find his stuff on the floor, in the hall, outside his old office. He would be told there may be space for him under a stair case somewhere.
The Dems would then pull the nuclear option the repugs threatened and we would never have to here a word of opposition from their sorry asses again.

63. I'd agree with that.
As unhappy as I was with the Clintons in the primary, Hillary has stepped up and supported Obama very well in the general - so I'd gladly like to see her replace Reid as the Senate Majority Leader. I think she'd perform that role well. And I'd be happy with anyone replacing Pelosi as House Leader... she's been a major disappointment.
