He and Palin keep bringing up the charge of Obama being a socialist based on his tax policies, but Obama is not pushing any new distribution formulas, just a rollback to previous policies.

So, why has this not being addressed in the media or by the Obama campaign? The idea of progressive taxation (redistributing wealth) dates to Roosevelt and the earned income credit (redistributing wealth) was originated by Reagan, both Republicans I might add.

So, are the Republicans planning to abolish progressive taxation and the earned income tax credit? If not, does that not make them as much of a socialist as Obama?

1. McCain thinks Bush's tax policy is just awesome.
So he's doing the maverick thing and adopting it 100%.

4. And, don't forget,
he's adding even MORE tax cuts for corporations. I'm sure it will trickle down on us eventually. :sarcasm:

3. The UK had progressive taxation in 1798.

A true income tax was first implemented in Britain by William Pitt the Younger in his budget of December 1798 to pay for weapons and equipment in preparation for the Napoleonic wars. Pitt's new graduated income tax began at a levy of 2d in the pound (0.8333%) on incomes over £60 and increased up to a maximum of 2s (10%) on incomes of over £200. Pitt hoped that the new income tax would raise £10 million but actual receipts for 1799.
