Zogby: Sept. 7 Kerry holds narrow lead in Presidential Battleground Poll
http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=860

Zogby says Bush has the momentum at this time, but Kerry is still holding a narrow lead: 264 to 231 Electoral votes.

1. "momentum" because of all the smears, lies
And Attacks but when that starts crumbling and then bush little faux momentum will start crumbling, too.

2. Hmm
It may be that Kerry wins the Electoral College and loses the popular vote.

It might be a good thing if that happens, and then there will be bipartisan support for EC reform.

4. the electoral college will NEVER be reformed
there's a built-in bias in favor of the small states, who are vital to any amendment. not gonna happen.

besides, the effect of the electoral college, while an obvious divergence from straight plurality, is rather overstated, and not always bad.

5. WE have the momentum
The phony Bush polls have energized the Democratic base. We were flooded with new volunteers today at my HQ, People who were shocked into action by the idea that Bush might have taken the lead.

8. What bothers me...
This isn't the first time I've read Zogby (and others) saying that their polling results show less support for Kerry among Democrats than Bush has with his base. I thought we where all fired up and ABB? Is it the major swing States that are the problem with fence-sitters?

9. It's the war

Kerry hasn't differentiated himself enough from Bush on Iraq, and that's probably why.

At least he's now trying to do that though.

Is there any info on why these Democrats aren't supporting Kerry? Are they voting Bush or just undecided?

Edit: I know from my own phone calling that some just aren't going to vote or have joined the dark side, but it's hardly a scientific poll.

17. First of all, this poll was done post-RNC
so the Repub base obviously would be psyched, and some Dems might be down because of disappointment with Kerry in August. Even so, Kerry appears to be running about even, which is a big relief.

15. Did ya' notice msnbc.com online poll has been hanging around
a lot longer than normal. It is a weekly poll that usually gets around 300,000 total votes with Kerry above 60%. Well, for the first time Bush actually had the lead during the RNC (apparently, the freepers on the Internet were fired up). Now, Kerry is back up (52-46) with 700,000 votes cast - Bush's best showing at the end of a week - I guess they don't want to let it go. I believe when they refresh back to zero we will see Kerry back above 60%. Kerry had Bush 70-30 at times in August.

Many of them probably cross party lines to support Bush - the more conservative ones.
