WE ARE INSPIRED!

Latest estimates are 28,000 people on a very recently announced noon time event on a chilly, windy day. We were about a football field length from the stage - a bright light and a teleprompter screen made it hard to get good pics of Barack (there are a few)...

A few impressions:

Extremely well organized (security started moving people through at 10, we got there at 9:30 and the traffic problems seemed non-existant). Everyone was calm, nice, pleasant - attendees, policemen, security - the event was a delight.

Wonderful attendees of every conceivable shape, size, color, age, nationality, body hardware, hair color - incredibly diverse, everyone seemed to share in the gravity of the event, and the need for change.

Incredible GOTV organization from the campaign - lots of people talking about early voting locations, volunteer opportunities.

As far as Obama's speech - all I can say is that it moved everyone. He is a remarkable leader. He is inspirational. He does exude hope and optimism, though makes it clear what is at stake and what remains to be done.

He must be president...that is all!

I took loads of pics but haven't downloaded them yet...don't know how they turned out! May post a few later tonight.

NC turning blue - a wonderful sight and experience!

Some pics -

11. Here's an AP photo that gives you some idea of the size of the crowd today in Raleigh

6. I'm glad you got in!! I got there too late
:-(

I had to stand outside on the grass. :P But I did get to here our next president though. And it was good just to be there. I was near the entry way were the EMTs came in. I could here him saying "Make way for the EMTs." I figured somebody must have fainted.

Like you said, every hue and shape of NC was there today. That made me really happy.

Afterwards, I spoke to to older black ladies who said that the had voted at Triangle Town Center and they were satisfied with their experience there. Get this: The one lady, her daughter recently moved to Jacksonville, FL and she has been PUSHED OFF THER ROLLS because her DL and SS don't match!! :grr: So, she's coming back up here to vote on Saturday, the last day for early voting.

Heh. Take that, FL!!

Go OBAMA!!
