******I Love Rachel Maddow Thread****************
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 07:14 PM by book_worm
In terms of fairness since there are like three anti-Rachel threads.

Let me say this, I don't agree with everything she says, but she is a great liberal and a great addition to MSNBC. I'm sure she would be as happy as any of us if/when Obama wins.

If you disagree with her on her thought that McCain may win Florida (which I do) then prove her wrong!

I think ordinarily she wasn't that way....she's just ramping it up for editorial content to whip up viewers and ratings, etc.

KO comment that well defeating the conservatives is a pretty good way of defeating conservatism.

She is young and I hope that KO helps guide her a bit.

She's a worrier, and that creates other worriers. But she's still great at her job and I love her to death.

That doesn't mean I like everything she says. Certainly we can have some middle ground on this.

a "cookie cutter" view nor personae. Consider a brilliant (Rhodes Scholar), progressive, lesbian rising to the top of the corporate-owned, corporate-controlled, political MSM. She's killing in the ratings, she has access to the brightest and best, and she pretty much says what she wants. I find this remarkably refreshing and amazing.

31. Count me in. Rachel Maddow ROCKS!!!!
Even if she has never read even a single one of my 'Ask Dr. Maddow' questions on the air. Dr. Maddow, if you see this, I still don't know how one can be 'hoisted on one's own petard'* and how that has somehow morphed from 'self fragging'* to the 'rubber/glue'** syndrome as exemplified by John Mccain

* hoisted on ones own petard/self fragging: a petard was an explosive device used for breaching castle gates, fragging is the action of using an explosive such as a grenade to intentionally blow up an ally, generally a leader.

** rubber/glue: The mean things you say about me bounces off and sticks to you!

48. I believe what she means is that the devices McCain is attempting to use to destroy Obama
are instead blowing up in his own face and destroying him...I.e., he is trying to use certain methods to ruin Obama, but they are instead coming back to stick to him and make him look bad. Perhaps she would be better off staying away from "self fragging," only because that implies intentional suicide on the part of a leader...I guess.

I think she is one person who will not go for the okie doke. I look forward to her throwing Obama's position up to the light: this is what you said to get elected AND this is what you are doing. What changed Mr. President?

If we could have held Clinton's feet to the fire, would we have gotten Don't Ask Don't Tell...Welfare labeling (jobs without healthcare, jobs without childcare, and jobs without protections...which would help all working Americans), should I go on. When Rachel says she is talking about governing and he is talking about winning elections, this SHOULD MEAN A GREAT DEAL to those of us who have been wishing, hoping and praying he will get past the corrupt practices in the GOP.

I am so sick of seeing the blonde fembots with their heavy make-up and porno lips. When

they speak extemporaneously, it is obvious that they have nothing between their ears. Even

tho I do not particularly like Candy Crowley's politics, I enjoy watching her and Lisa Meyers

on NBC because they are not cookie cutter. I also enjoy Christiane Armanpour whenever she is on.

It seems MSM has no use for intelligent women. Dr. Maddow is intelligent, attractive without

looking like a floozy and is quick on her feet. The best thing Olbermann ever did was become

her champion. Unfortunately, I think in time she will pass him in the ratings. I hope is ego can

stand it.

74. I love Rachel!
She's one of the most realistic and honest people on tv right now and she might be the smartest.

75. I think she's great
Did she say that McCain may win Florida? Well, of course he might. One of the worst things the Obama campaign could do at this point would be to think they have anything in the bag.

I thought her interview with Obama was great. By trying to sway Obama to the left she accomplishes two things at once. She pressures him to conduct a presidency that is more responsive to the people who elect him, and she sends the message to independent voters that he's not as liberal as the the Republican Party makes him out to be.

81. I watch her show every day.

So far.

I love it. It's like a balm after eight years of BushCo's wounding madness. And during most of that time the press did very little to stop it.

Her show is more like penicillin, really.

Edit: I've missed the hub-bub. Are trolls trying to take down Maddow in other threads here, fomenting dissent? Good luck with that.

to me...

Oh God, she's smart too!

85. Rachel is great.
I like Olbermann, but I love Rachel's show.

I have to say, this thread has been great - I didn't know much about her background, and think it's very cool that she was a Rhodes scholar.

87. I like her show alot
I find myself watching it as much as countdown these days. Yes she is worried about the election but think where she is coming from, she has watched like most of us two elections that have been stolen and she knows being gay what its like to fight prejudice.

She will be thrilled when we win. Being an anchor is still new to her and not leaning 100% to Obama winning probably helps her get people on the show right now.

88. I respect her pragmatism and I like her personality. And her intellect.
But especially, her ability to think on her feet. And she most always has a basically positive demeanor. So I give her a bunch of positives.
