Are the polls completely wrong? Are Repugs saying they'll vote for Obama to skew the results???
A video on MSNBC shows a caller on Rush Limbaugh stating that when polled all Republicans should say that they're voting for Obama. Rush starts to say that this is his "dream", and the video cuts off.

What are the chances that a large enough cross section of kool-aid drinkers are lying to the pollsters in order to skew the results in such a manner as to truly obscure the possibility that McCain is winning?

Lie, cheat and steal all you good little reich wing christians. Show us how a "good American" truly behaves...

insulting).
I think you should take the straight-loss express to the sleepy little hamlet of Mannerstaff.:boring:

Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 09:15 PM by Drunken Irishman
Typical polls only poll about 1,000 people across this country in national surveys. For this to work, they would have to hit EVERY Republican who thinks that way. Do you know what the odds would be for that to happen? Yeesh.

8. That's part of why polls have a margin of error.
It's sad, but true. Pollsters understand that there will be a small percentage of respondents who lie to you.

9. They have no incentive to lie to pollers
Candidates like polls that show they are in favor. More than likely, the caller is lying to make up an excuse for the low poll numbers.

10. That "strategy" makes no sense. Why would they want to fool their own voters
into not voting because McHate is so far behind it won't matter? Why would he encourage that?

He's a friggin' liar. I for one, have never been polled, but if I were, I can't imagine how on earth it would help Obama if I told them I was voting for McHate.

Limbaugh must've graduated last in his class just like McHate, Palin and AWOL Bush. Bunch of idiots.. all of 'em.

a good number of them aren't going to show up on election day. I'm hoping a large number of them don't turn up in Texas. I think it's closer here than the polls show just from the support for Obama I see.

13. then why are all those polls showing nearly all Republicans voting for McCain?
unless they are claming to be Democrats, of course, the support for Obama from Democrats is similar to that of Republicans for McCain.

And independents favor Obama but not by huge numbers.

AND AND AND...why have good days for Obama, debates, etc. led to better poll results? are they coordinating this massive headfake to coincide with good moments in Obama's campaign?

14. What would be the point??
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 09:29 PM by choie
Just psy-ops? This is just ridiculous. These people thrive on being 'the majority', on winning and lording their (usually ill-gotten) triumphs over those whom they trample in their wake. The whole "WE'RE NUMBER ONE! WE'RE NUMBER ONE!" mindset is crucial to their beliefs about themselves.

No, righties can no more accept losing -- even if they were 'fake-losing' as in this scenario -- than you or I could chop off our own right hands. It's just not in their makeup.

I understand their actually having done this back during the primary; the repugs claimed to be Democrats so they could vote for the person they most thought McCain would crush in the general election. But there's no point in doing this now.

This theory represents their last, desperate, frenzied attempt to convince the righty masses that the truth in front of them is, in fact, a lie.

They're losing. Indeed, in many ways, they have already lost.

The rest of us have won.

23. Look at how each campaign is behaving - and you know this is not true
Every county Democratic office is canvassing and phone banking. Each has an idea of how their county is doing - Don't you thing that information is pushed upwards and aggregated - and compared to previous years?

First of all, this is the first time that this has been mentioned - how did the Republicans get the message to do this - and why do Palin, McCain and their top people not seem to know this. The backstabbing and leaks coming out of that campaign are not what you see of a campaign that is truly happy with where they are and confident.

Are the forever Republican newspapers which endorsed Obama in on it too?

This is self- aggrandizing Rush Limbaugh trying to appear to retain relevance.

24. considering a fraction of a fraction of voters EVER get polled. This is total BS.
It's Rush's WET dream. Most voters never get polled in their lifetime (considering the sample sizes of polls, done every four years), so the odds that a measurable amount of Rush listeners would be polled, is pretty miniscule.

26. I agree. What truly amazes me is that I'm still occasionally stunned at the mendacity of the right.
At what point in a young republican's existence do they realize that lying and other immoral acts are the only way they can fool enough people to win on occasion?

These people live for appearances. The notion of saying they'll vote for Obama on a poll that will appear on network TV or on a big website or in a big newspaper is anathema to them. This is a Hail Mary to keep their base from losing hope.
