1000 dead - scotty says remember those who died on 9-11
there was a quote on the front page of the boston gLobe today from spanky that offends me greatLy:

"Asked about the American death toll, White House press secretary Scott McClellan told reporters, "We remember, honor and mourn the loss of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending freedom. And we also remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11th."

again, can they even go a few minutes without using 9-11 as a justification for any/everything? he (and then bush) go on to say the best way to honor their courage, sacrifice, etc is to continue fighting a broad war and bring freedom to other countries.

fucking asshoLes!

the quote came from an AP articLe by hamza hendawi and the gLobe doesn't have it on their web site (or if they do, it's got a differnt titLe).

1. Again, can they get it through their thick skulls that
the city most affected by the tragic events of September 11 hates your (McClellan and the rest of the chimpministration's) guts and was the most outspoken American city against the Iraq war? WE know who attacked us, and it wasn't Iraq you idiots.

That crap might sell in the sticks, but those of us who lost friends and family (and EVERYBODY in the city lost someone or knows somebody who lost someone) know where are enemies lay.

2. Hey, Scott - while we're at it, lets also remember the victims of OKC bomb
and all of those lynched by the Klan -

These tragedies have as much to do with the Iraq war as 9/11 does.

3. Let's 'Em Keep Exploiting 9/11...We Just Point It Out
People are getting real, real tired of how the GOOP has used 9/11 to destroy this country...or to exploit it with little to show for it.

9/11 didn't happen last month or last year, it's 3 years gone now, and what do we have to show from and for it? Not a single person connected with the attacks that day has stood trial or even faced charges for this action (compared to how quick Clinton rounded up the first WTC attackers...despite this happening shortly after he got in office, too) and bin Laden is still loose and as dangerous as ever.

Then there's the phony wars that have come out of this...Afghanistan? Right War, wrong results...this is a ticking time bomb only covered up by the mess in Iraq. Iraq...wrong in every sense. No 9/11 connection...and now a new training and recruiting ground for Al Queda. The embarassment this regime has thrown at the Arab world can't be underestimated and one we all will have to live and deal with for decades to come. 1,001 young Americans needlessly killed and more doomed to a fate defending war profiteers. Yep, a great 9/11 legacy there.

As someone (I think it was in one of Will Pitt's posts) stated no President has run on a disaster. Roosevelt didn't exploit Pearl Harbor or Lincoln, the Battle Of Gettysburg. The use of this tragedy for political gain by the GOOP is another indication of how morally bankrupt this party is and how they use human suffering for their own advantage.

4. I heard Rummy on NPR
invoking the deaths in Beslan to minimize the signifigance of our soldiers deaths.

They'll say anything to downplay them. I'd hate to hear what they'd be saying if they didn't support our troops.:eyes:

5. How quickly they forget!
3,000 died at Pearl Harbour, too. A lot of them killed in their hammocks.

But Pearl has no relevance to the soccer moms of Middle-Murka, does it?

Bring "Freedom" to other countries...And this is from a guy who told us 4 years ago that he wasn't really interested in "Nation Building"...WHO'S the "flip-flopper" NOW?

8. These vermin will not waste an opportunity to
use 9/11 for political gain. And they don't waste a single opportunity to somehow try to justify their actions in Iraq and tie it to what happened on 9/11--even though we know that Iraq had nothing to do with that attack.

10. Hey Scotty, all together now, "IRAQ IS NOT AL QUAEDA!" Got it?
Sorry for the shouting. Scotty seems to be a little hard of hearing.
