Sarah Palin’s Wardrobe Defense Costs Consignment Store Their Name

When the story exploded that the RNC spent $150,000 on Sarah Palin’s wardrobe, Palin rebutted saying that her wardrobe comes from her favorite consignment store in Anchorage, Out of the Closet.

Well, it turns out that there is a non-profit chain of stores in California and Florida which is also called Out of the Closet. When the AIDS Healthcare Foundation found out about the the AK store, the sent a copyright infringement cease and desist letter to the owner asking them to change their name.

Ellen Arvold, who owns the store in Anchorage, has said that she will comply and change the name. No word if this has affected who she may vote for on November 4th.

1. The very idea of a Talibangelical like Palin shopping somewhere named "Out of the Closet"
The first thing that comes to my mind is, "Hmm, sounds like a typical Republicker family-values hypocrite."

6. I'm picturing a plywood sheet sign over the store that'll need to be re-painted.
So maybe...

1 Gal. Primer
1 Gal. Gloss White
1 Qt. Red
2 Rollers
1 2" bristle brush
-----------------
T: around $50.00

3. Oh I'm sure Palin will come out blasting "The Gay"
for doing that to her poor little store. I've been to the store in San Francisco, it rocks!

5. The owner might have been happy to comply.
Hell, the moment the owner heard Palin cite his store as her clothing source he probably pulled out the papers for a name change.

7. I feel bad for the store owner
If she wasn't cashing in on someone else's reputation (which she probably wasn't), it's probably costly for a small shop owner to change their name. It's just going to irritate anyone in the community that someone in the lower 48 is causing such a fuss.

Not sure if having Palin as a customer, or even being proud of the fact (heck, I would be) makes you a bad person. I hope that's not what people are commenting about.
