Astounding Early Vote Numbers in North Carolina!
2,078,050 have voted early (not including people voting today), equaling 58.2% of the total 2004 turnout!
In 2004, 30.8% of the total turnout was early vote/absentee.

8.2% of the vote is Absentee
91.8% is One-Stop Voting/Registration

One-Stop Voting ends on Saturday.

1. AND that's the way it should be in any state.. Why deny a vote? Why not allow
people to come in, register, and to vote. Its insane to deny American citizens above 18 to vote because of a deadline. North Carolina is very cool to have this rule.

2. I totally agree.
I'm so glad my state has implemented one-stop registration and voting.

Lines have been long in early voting in my county (Forsyth, where Winston-Salem is located). It took me 2 hours, and in general I've been hearing 1-2 hour wait times. My father lucked out an was able to vote in about 30 minutes at the location he went to.

3. Everytime I see one of these posts about NC voter turnout it makes me proud!
And every day the vote just keeps building, not dropping off!
It's as it should be in NC!!!

6. Makes me proud too!
We've been voting about 200K a day. Governor Easley ordered that early-voting locations stay open an extra 4 hours on Saturday to accommodate early voters.

4. When I voted, a poll worker
went off duty and immediately got in line. He had not yet registered to vote but 15 minutes later, his vote was counted.

5. Awesome news! This means the lines on election day won't be nearly as bad
and people will most likely NOT be turned away because they didn't get in line in time.
