I know it's the Friday before the big day. Our nerves are frazzled, if not obliterated. We're all wishing and hoping not to repeat the horrors of the last two elections. And posts have gone from slightly irritating (tinted with great concern) to Apocalypse Now we're all going to fucking die. Maybe it's just me, but I thought we were better than this. Here's what I mean:

If you're already starting to place blame on a certain age group or gender or ethnicity or religious base for losing an election we haven't lost yet, you're being an asshole. Stop it.

If you are attacking Republicans using homosexual slurs, you're being an asshole. Stop it.

Actually, if you're using slurs at all in your criticism of opponents, you're being an asshole. Stop it.

If you are hiding under the flag of concern and turning up the heat when it's already a thousand degrees causing others to flip the fuck out, you're being an asshole. Stop it.

If you are reduced to generalizing an opponent based on physical appearances and in the process alienating cultures and subcultures you know nothing about (ie Joe The Plumber is a skinhead), you're being an asshole. Stop it.


Being the party of inclusion is the biggest fundamental difference between us and them. When we do act that way, we're no better than those we attack. I have never asked any person to actually 'stop' doing something because I feel most who do so are on a high horse and the desired effect is never reached. I feel like a hypocrite in posting this and I'm sorry I have to.

BUT FOR FUCKSAKE, STOP ACTING LIKE ASSHOLES. WE'RE GOING TO WIN THIS THING.
