That's my new talking point. There is no point in getting into long policy discussions with most people.
And most people don't want to hear that Bush is a fool.
But if I sigh and say things like, "He just seems like he brought bad luck with him." Or, "Well, I'm sure Bush is doing the best he can, but maybe a new President will bring us better luck," it seems to register on the supersitious level at which many people function.
Remember, we are increasingly a society of lotto and slot players, who believe in luck more than hard work. (Afterall, when your jobs sucks all you have to believe in is luck) So why fight the trend? Take advantage of it. No arguments about politics. Just a simple shrug of the shoulders and a statement about luck. And maybe I'll be lucky enought to sway a few voters.

1. The guy's a born loser.
All those freaking Bush's are. I don't know how they got so powerful. They're a bunch of clowns.

3. I use - "I just feel like things are headed in the wrong direction."
"I'm not saying Kerry can fix everything. I just feel we're goin' the wrong way. I think we need a change."

4. It's like there's been a cloud of despair hanging over the country
since the Supreme Court decision.

Only by changing who is the president can we change our luck!

Good meme. It appeals to the least common denominator.

5. Actually not a bad TP for non-political people to hear
Yeah, that Bush, his business ventures failed and as President he has choked on pretzels, fallen off bikes and segways, bad luck follows him like a lost puppy. My gut tells me he isn't over his bad luck spell and I just don't think he should be President.

6. It's true--we're under the Curse of W!
Whatever works. I mean, it isn't really luck that's caused this, but it is nevertheless true that everything Bush touches turns to shit, usually sooner rather than later. It's like he's got the reverse Midas touch.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

10. Funny you should say that...
I live in Alabama (originally from Chicago, but that's another story). At work I sit next to a religious woman, not over the top fundie but religious. She's married with two small kids. Anyway, even back before the primaries we were talking about bush*. It wasn't a heated debate or anything, but what she said still sticks with me, so I'll share it with you. She said, "It does seem like since he's been in there everything has gone wrong." So I think you may have a good talking point there.

13. You should have asked her what message God was sending to
Florida with all of these hurricanes so close to election time. Seems like a clear message of don't make the same mistake this time you did last time. Plus crashing that space shuttle over Texas. Sounds like the Lord is sending us a message to clear the brush, or trim the Bush...

Yeah, I know this is tacky, but sometimes you have to reach people on their level, be it with reason for reasonable people, or with superstition for superstitious people.

14. That's true of fundies....
like my cousin who thinks the end time is coming. But this lady isn't nutso like that--she cares about her children's future. Just goes to show you can be religious and sane simultaneously.

11. Cheney has pretty much been the kiss of death for every president he works
for as well:

2nd Nixon administration.

Ford administration.

First Bush administration.

I'm starting to sense a pattern here.

For a certain group of people, it would probably make a far greater impact than any discussion of the issues. Good one.

17. I don't get it...
How anyone can think that we should endure another four years like the last four is beyond me. shrub IS bad luck. How do people not see that? Can someone explain that to me?

BTW I think your argument will do well among current W supporters. Especially the idiot religious fundamentalists - they have a track record of buying witches' brew and superstition over science anyway.
