2. Where is Irving, TX??? Is it a liberal or conservative area....
I know, I know....it's cool nonetheless BECAUSE it is Texas.
But can you give us a little more context.

19. Suburb of Dallas. "Office Space" was set there.

Until fairly recently it was a dry town; you had to go to Arlington or Ft. Worth to buy beer.

4. Nope, that was Jasper. Nowhere near Irving.
Irving is close to Dallas, where JFK was assassinated.

5. Maine Statewide school poll was something like 63-35
Obama over McCain. So much for Obama's 'white voter' problem.

Trouble is in the same poll Tom Allen took a beating, and Summers squeaked into Congress.

15. I'm in Collin County...
And signs in my neighborhood ( East Plano ) 4 to 1 for Obama :)

Let's turn Collin County blue!

I know, but if there's ever a chance to do it, this is the time!

10. Irving use to be very white but in the last 10 years had become very ethnic
and the white population is becoming a minority. There are housing areas around it that are white and very wealthy but I believe the larger population is hispanic/black/east indian.

13. Dunno, I didn't see that many minorities, I saw predominantly white people
I did see A LOT of areas not far from the Love Field area around Dallas that were almost all Hispanic.

Irving was basically a white area.

11. This is VERY good news, why? Because
I spent three weeks in Irving, Texas a few years ago, and nearly everyone I met was a Bush supporter and very Republican.

I met exactly two open Democrats, EVERYONE else was a Bush Republican.

Irving, Texas is Bush Country....or it was, if the Irving kids are voting in their mock election on what they're hearing their parents are going to vote, then I'd say that's a pretty ASTONISHING result at 73% for Obama.

Are all the rich white kids in private schools, and hence not taking this poll?

16. I wouldn't call Irving "rich" myself, more like classic Middle Class, "rich" is more like
Highland Park and University Park areas of Dallas.

17. Not all. . .
there actually is a school called Irving Academy which is a public school in Irving ISD and it is located very very close to the Four Seasons and the Cottonwood neighborhood (Dr. Phil used to have a house-lots of $$$$$$)

14. Irving is where the lovely headquarters of Exxon Mobil is
it is a good mix but I would say there are more Bush groupies than anything.

I am still holding out hope that Obama turns Texas blue!!!!

18. Yes Irving is a "Bush Groupie" area, so this poll is wonderful
It could show that Senator Obama is EVEN connecting with people in places like Irving, Texas, who are probably worried about losing their jobs and whatnot.

IF the Irving kids' poll reflects their parents intentions on how they'll vote, then I still have hope that Senator Obama can win in a place like North Carolina.

20. Wow
I'm assuming these kids' parents' votes won't mirror that, but that's a pretty amazing result from suburban Dallas kids. Then again, I'm still shocked at rumors that suburban Austin county of Williamson could possibly go for Obama this year.
