Nate Silver of fivethirtyeight.com stated a specific criterion to determine if the race is significantly "tightening." The criterion is this:


McCain coming within two points of Obama.....

....in at least two non-partisan polls.....

....in any two of the following three states: Colorado, Virginia, Pennsylvania.


I think that's a very reasonable criterion, and have therefore adopted it as my "worry threshold." Although I'm going to do everything I can to GOTV, and I suggest everyone else here do the same, I'm not going to worry until that criterion is met. Then, and only then, will McCain have a fighting chance.

Having said that, why are you reading DU? Go knock on doors! Go make some calls! Let's get this guy elected!
