Kerry's Iraq policy
Ok this is part question, part grouse.

On the issue of Iraq, Kerry is now on the offensive, saying he would have done almost everything differently. This is good, he needs to keep up the heat on these lousy cheats.

But why won't/can't he come out and say, "If elected I WILL do things differently in Iraq..." and then give 1 or 2 specific things he wants to do in Iraq?

I don't understand it, because this whole woulda coulda game, IMHO plays into the hands of the Bushites. 1st, it makes it seems like Kerry is defending his record of voting to give Bush authority to prosecute a war in Iraq and then voting against giving a $87 billion blank check to Halliburton. And 2nd, I think the electorate just doesn't like subjunctives, woulda's and shoulda's, hypotheticals.

He doesn't have to make ridiculous promises, but if he said something firm I think it would help him a lot.

Has he done this already and it hasn't gotten through the media filter? Or is there some reason he's avoiding it (like, perhaps: he has a plan, but it's politically unpalatable?)
