2. That's good. We often forget that there are people in newly democratic nations
who will walk for days and risk their lives for the privilege of voting. In comparison voting really comes to us easy in this country, yet so many cannot be bothered.

39. New York willl still go Blue I guess
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 09:07 PM by ukfordems
but the idea of having 1 + hour waits to vote is just appalling. The Republicans want to sell US democracy across the World and have reduced the US to this?

Anyone who casts a vote in favour of Republicans during this election should do so in shame. Queues like this to vote are just so wrong in the richest Country in the World. Even when we are up to 80% voting in the UK, (rare but it happens) we never wait for more than 15 minutes.

(I am however proud of those who will take the time out to try and either get rid of this scum or for whatever reason they choose, to keep them in).

I had a 3 and a half hour wait, but yeah, it was worth it. And like you I found the crowd and the workers friendly, and everything went without a hitch. And fortunately for me, we had chairs.

Feels good to have that part of this done. And oh yeah, I voted for That One

I voted yesterday- stood in line for 2 hours. Had a very similar experience- friendly people, made some new friends.

I thought it was cool to see such amazing turnout after 2004, when a Repug sitting next to me (I was sitting at the polling place all day for MoveOn) actually gloated about the low turnout in my neighborhood. Asshole.

52. Hi CatWoman!

I know I've been MIA for a while- went back to school- working on my master's, and honestly, after 2004, I just couldn't deal with politics in my head all the time- it was so depressing.

But Obama's brought me out of it, for sure. I've never felt so proud to vote for someone in my entire life!
