Log Cabin Republicans vote 22-2 to NOT endorse Bush
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Leaders of the largest group for gay men and lesbians in the Republican Party voted overwhelmingly against endorsing President Bush (news - web sites) for re-election because he favors a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, The New York Times said on Wednesday.

The board of the Log Cabin Republicans (news - web sites) voted 22-2 on Tuesday night against endorsing Bush, the newspaper said, citing a spokesman for the group.

Log Cabin in 2000 endorsed Bush against Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites), and in 1996 endorsed Republican Bob Dole against incumbent Democrat Bill Clinton (news - web sites).

The group in February criticized Bush for supporting the amendment. "Writing discrimination into our Constitution violates conservative and Republican principles," Executive Director Patrick Guerriero said at the time. "This amendment would not strengthen marriage -- it would weaken our nation."

6. Yes, but...
...they did not endorse Kerry, and they made it clear they like 99% of what Bush does and says and stands for...it's just that teensy weensy little problem he has with their sex lives. But other than that, he's peachy-keen as far as they're concerned.

9. Or to use an analogy.....
Jewish person circa 1930: Although I am dissappointed with Hitler's stance on Judaism and his anti-semetic rhetoric, I agree with his social and economic policies and the need for a strong military and unified Germany.

There were conservative and nationalistic Jews in pre-Hitler Germany, but I have never heard of any Jew supporting the Nazis. There was no Jewish organization in Weimar Germany remotely comparable to the Log Cabin Republicans. After all, homophobia is not the stated purpose of the Republican Party (just a side benefit), whereas murdering Jews was pretty much the entire raison d'etre of the Nazis.

This is more like a black person working for Jesse Helms.

8. This is what comes of being STUPID
and idiologically skewed to the exrtreme right.
I knew pandering to the fundies was costing them. Lets have constititutional amendments to keep tax cuts permenant too while we are at it.

10. The 2 were part of the "submissives" branch of the S&M/B&D Caucus...
A couple of the Sadists were also for Bush until they came to their senses...

The rest just looked at each other and said: "It isn't worth being roundly hated and excluded just so we can be rich freeloaders on society".
