Bush won't debate town hall forum because he's scared they will ask him
questions he won't be able to answer. Bottom line. This BS about being "afraid" of partisan participants is smoke and mirrors. If Bush wants people to believe he is such a "fearless" leader then he needs to have his butt front and center in EVERY debate. Some "fearless" leader--yeah, just what I thought:eyes:

Rove knows Bush doesn't speak well off the teleprompter and his "earpiece" would be too noticeable. This is what this all boils down to. Notice the debates he will be at are the ones where he will know the questions ahead of time by people like Timmy "potato-head" Russert.

give me an effing break...what a joke...:eyes:

3. He's a coward
and we should use that word. He seems to forget that the people who he wants to vote for him may have some questions and they are entitled to answers. He's not a king and he doesn't seem to get the concept of we hire him.

24. Yes - 'W' stands for WIMP
While the city of Manhattan burned --
while innocent Americans took nose dives to their deaths --
while hundreds of emergency workers were crushed --

Our glorious commander in chief read about a pet goat for 7 minutes (AFTER BEING INFORMED THE NATION WAS UNDER ATTACK),

took orders from an aide who held a note card commanding him to keep his mouth shut (AFTER BEING INFORMED THE NATION WAS UNDER ATTACK),

spent more than 20 minutes having his photograph taken (AFTER BEING INFORMED THE NATION WAS UNDER ATTACK),

and then flew to Nebraska where he hid under a corn field and watched the whole mess unfold on television.

4. Kerry should say --
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 12:18 PM by CalamityJane
1. He's afraid to have a townhall debate

2. He's afraid to have real press conferences, has had very few and they have baby rules

3. He's afraid to go in front of Democrats at his campaign rallies

4. He's afraid to go in front of the 9-11 commission without holding Cheney's hand

5. A smart move by Rove
Yes, we should make sure that this cowardice costs him politically. But whatever it costs, it will cost less than an appearance in which he would have to answer questions he doesn't know in advance. They weighed the two relative political costs, and picked the lesser one.

21. Yeah
and that was when he only had to answer about his plans, not about his policies in the past 4 years. The debates, even moderated, even pre-scripted, will be a disaster for Bush as it is -- Rove is just trying to minimize the damage.

7. is this not being discussed in the media yet?
I mean I see it on websites and on here and breif mentions of it..but nobody is calling * out yet....are we leaving more time for him to maybe see the fallout of him backing off one debate? and maybe he changes his mind..POUNCE on this...which I am sure they will..I think Kerry should go ahead with the town hall meeting and answer questions...but our people on the news programs should say..."there are no loyalty oaths for this debate and * might be thinking its a dangerous position to put himself in"

13. HEY, GREAT IDEA!
Just let Kerry go on by himself and answer the questions. OH that's good! Seriously, I know some have said Kerry should still show up, but hey, if Bush doesn't want to show then let Kerry "carry" the whole forum. I LOVE IT! :D

12. LOL, they might ask him to define "sovereign" again...
I remember when someone asked him if parents shouldn't hold more responsibility for their children's performance in the schools and he answered, "wouldn't it be nice if we could pass a law that we all had to love each other?"

the one who skewered him when he invaded Ireland last summer.

18. Why is Bush afraid to debate?
Makes me wonder, but not as much as I wonder what he's been hiding in the Whitehouse for the last 4 years. I think he needs to gather some courage, take the bull by the horns and ride into town on the horse of truth!

20. I know, that's why we have to keep bringing that up - he's a platic cowboy
And a liar and he's not brave at all.

Why is he afraid to come clean with the American people? I thought he was supposed to be on our side! What on earth can he be hiding behind all that secrecy? I just can't trust him.

Thank God Kerry's got tons of experience going after government law breaking. And Edwards is a top lawyer as well. I think I can trust that they'll get to the bottom of it for us after they're elected.

It will feel good to get back to being America again after November 2!
