Oh, get real!
Okay, it has gotten completely ridiculous! We call ourselves a civilized nation and yet we still throw rocks at one another and call names. Seriously! I have been guilty DU)so I not throwing stones - just making a comment. I do see some of it here (and no, I am not moderator and do not play one on TV)...
Is anybody REALLY out there? I mean, we have allowed media to control our minds. WHO among you personally knows Dumbya...er... George W.? Who personally knows John Kerry? Very few in the blog/board world anyway.
Yet, we stoop as low as we can get and dredge up gooey syrupy nasty stinky globs of blog and slap it on either or both!
Why?
It makes US feel better.
Chances are (though it IS difficult to imagine it could possibly be!) Bush is doing his "best" with what he has got <ahem>.
I feel the best thing he has going for him is that he is IN the office and has lots of rich friends.
Chances are Kerry really believes he can do a better job (I mean, after all, who couldn't?).
I feel the best thing he has going for him is that he is NOT George W. Bush!
Neither, mind you, boggles the mind in a GREAT way both manage to do so often in irritating ways.
Bush kills our soldiers in a war he started for oil. Kerry brags about a war long gone.
Get real.
It would be wonderful if we could go back to the Clinton years, erase a rather silly scandal and really live again. But, we can't.
What lies ahead is misery, regardless of who fills the oval office.
And to think we were once a GREAT nation.

14. Because...
I have the same right you have - to be here. And, if you think Kerry can fix it all over night when he gets in office, think again a time or two. So, misery (death of our soldiers) will continue no matter who is in office... BECAUSE Bush started a war that should never have been started...and now it has to be completed. Of course, I say day one, bring em all home and let Iraq do for itself... but then I am not running for white house resident.:kick:

31. You should have been a little more specific in your original post
You made it sound like we're all going to be in misery. I don't think Kerry will be able to fix things overnight, especially if we don't make some headway in Congress. But I think that his domestic policies will make an improvement in his first term. And as far as foreign policy goes I think he will more likely than Bush get us out of Iraq and the Middle East sooner.

And I don't question your right to be here. I just question your reasoning to be here if you think whoever is president doesn't make a difference.

36. You are right..
I did not mean to imply itr does not matter who gets in office... of course, it does... I simply meant that the hell of this unjust, un-provoked war will continue and we will see more death EVEN WITH Kerry in office... now that he HAS to see it thru.

15. Why don't YOU get real?
If you feel the differences between Kerry and Bush are only superficial, then why are you even here?

"It would be wonderful if we could go back to the Clinton years, erase a rather silly scandal and really live again. But, we can't.
What lies ahead is misery, regardless of who fills the oval office."

The "silly scandal" was the right-wing conspiracy to impeach a popular Democratic president. As for future "misery" under Kerry, you leave me speechless.

Once again, there a million boards on the net that you can participate in. Why are you here?

20. What is up with you folks?
I agree with all that -- but YES, I do think Kerry should be put in office so we will have a new start...Bush blew it big time... but no, I am not overly thrilled with Kerry so far. He will get my vote BECAUSE he is not BUSH...right now THAT'S it.

And I am here by invitation first and because I wanna be now...and will be until DU changes that (and I am trying to be "nice" to see that THAT does not happen)...though for some reason, my fellow democrats come on with attacks just as mean as the Neo-Cons at times for NO reason.

Oh well, huh?

32. I think some "fellow Democrats" come on with what seems like
attacks is because they aren't sure you ARE a fellow Democrat. I'm not saying you aren't, just saying that that's why you're being challenged. Many DUers have a finely-tuned "Spidey-sense" and trust IT more than a poster's words of party loyalty.

Personally, MY spidey-sense was all a-tingle with your original post. But I'm speaking just for me...

17. And some of us who have been paying attention KNOW Kerry will be a great
president.

So sorry you cannot grasp that John Kerry has investigated and exposed more government corruption than any lawmaker in modern history. That fact excites the hell out of those of us who have paid attention over the course of his Senate career.

19. Sounds like you are having a rough day.
It will get better. And yes, there is going to be a HUGE mess to clean up. Fortunately, we can do it. We are having to make our judgments on their character because that is our job as voters. Slogging through the smear (on both sides) isn't easy, but it is what responsible people do. You've obviously chosen Kerry as your candidate, but that doesn't mean he's going to "be perfect" all of the time, or get the media attention you want him to have. Stuff he says is going to sound repetitive if you pay attention, but "exciting and new" if you just became aware. Don't let it get you down. The records of each candidate speak for themselves, and IT WILL GET BETTER if we work at it. Its going to be okay, if we do our part (and just by paying attention, you've begun!!!).

Best, Ida

22. Thanks Ida...
The voice of reason... I knew there would be one (besides mine Hahhaah)... yes, Kerry will get the vote of me and my entire family; and at 63, I am old enough to make decisions, believe it or not, AND I am able to see how hard Kerry is being hit by the Bush regime of liars and deviates... and I keep hoping he will throw it all back in their faces with vigor, but have not seen it yet (and the lamp grows dim toward election time)...
At any rate, thanks for kind words from a fellow Democrat. Just because we do not all GUSH over Kerry does not mean we care one iota for Bush.

26. You are welcome, daddybear.
He is actually doing some pretty heavy throwing (they had Bush and Cheney both in a tizzy yesterday -- ha!), but it doesn't get a lot of media play. Also, I'm told there is some SERIOUSLY HEAVY DUTY stuff happening behind the scenes. Did you read about the advertisement for Kitty Kelley's book in the RNC program book? Apparently the Bush clan nearly had apoplexy over that, which (according to the gossip from this site) is why they did the Bushies did the whole "11 point" lead lie. Well, that's in the process of backfiring pretty well, too, isn't it? ("What happened to Bush's bounce?") Kerry has a rep for being a "good closer" for a reason, and best of all, his opponents NEVER recover!

In the meantime, if you want to really cheer yourself up, go read this thread -- http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=1645116&mesg_id=1645116 -- I think it will give you some "fun" ideas!!!

Best, Ida
