MSNBC: Bush "simply stared at a reporter" who asked about Cheney "threat"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5911852/

BAGHDAD, Iraq - With the number of American military deaths in Iraq surpassing 1,000, President Bush said Wednesday “we mourn every loss of life” and declared that the United States was making good progress in the war against terrorism.

“We’re still at war,” Bush said during a meeting with congressional leaders. “We’ve got to do everything we can to protect the homeland.”

“We’re making good progress,” the president said. “Ultimately we will prevail because liberty changes countries, liberty changes the habits of people, liberty promotes peace. And that’s why we appreciate the sacrifice of the men and women who wear the uniform,” Bush said. “They’re serving a great cause. “We mourn every loss of life,” he said. “We will honor their memories by completing the mission.”

Bush refused to answer questions from reporters. He simply stared at a reporter who asked if he agreed with Vice President Dick Cheney’s assertion that if Democrat John Kerry is elected, “the danger is that we’ll get hit again” by terrorists.

44. He can't answer any questions anymore...
because that will show a sign of weakness. Chaney has painted him into a corner.
Let chaney blather on and on. Moron won't be able to say a thing, because if he does, no matter what it is, it will look as if he isn't supporting chaney and that he's flip flopping...LOL What a bunch of assholes.
Once upon a time in the country if a veep said those kinds of statements, the president would hand him his ass, but now we are stuck with a spineless coward.

46. He doesn't have to answer any questions
Looks like our beloved (NOT) TV media will cover up for him.

The thread post at the top had this line from the MSNBC article:
"He simply stared at a reporter who asked if he agreed with Vice President Dick Cheney’s assertion..."

That line is NOT in the article now. Yet the URLs are the same.

Could it be that the MSNBC editors removed the line???

47. Ironically, the reporter who had to endure the stare was
David Gregory, who works for NBC.

He also endured a put down from Bush when he dared to ask a question in French, some time back.

19. Real simple
He asks his press handlers to take down the name of the reporter who asked the particular question and that reporter loses his press credentials. That is one reason why the press has been pandering to him lately.

10. Ladies and gentlemen, behold the Great Unraveling.
This is the beginning of the end, folks. When these people get too confident they get sloppy, and when they get sloppy they say stupid things they can't explain, and by trying to explain them they just keep digging the hole deeper and deeper.

All Kerry has to do now is sit back and let these bastards self-destruct, then go in and squash the pieces. Get a good seat, this is going to be fun.

I get creeped out every time somebody says "homeland." I've come to dislike American flags, too. In fact, the Bush regime is radicalizing me in numerous ways. I may be a communist by the time we get rid of these people!

I don't mind flags in moderation but the Homeland stuff just makes me cringe. It just seems so Nazi-esqe. Quite frankly I was surprised more people weren't appalled when they first started with that crap.

27. I understand how you feel, but
30 years ago, I let the people who wrapped themselves in the American flag and told me that if I didn't agree with Richard Nixon about Vietnam, I should go live in some other country (the "America: Love It or Leave It" crew) take away my flag.

We can't let that happen again. We MUST stand up and say "My voice IS an American voice. I am a proud American. I stand for justice and freedom. I believe in the power of free and democratic people to make choices about the way they want to live and be governed. I believe that peace and dipolmacy are better than war. I believe that elected officials should be accountable to the people. I believe in my right to criticize the country I LOVE when it is not going the way I believe it should. And THAT is why I fly this flag."

When we give away the power of our most important national symbols, we only rob ourselves of another way to be part of the conversation.

23. So where's the press
indignation?

Why doesn't David Gregory get on the WH Lawn, OUR lawn, and say that the President refused to answer a pointed, legitimate question from a newsman today due to the fact that it was clearly politically embarassing, and that he (Gregory0 whould know what it's like to be at the point of a ridicule by this man, as he was mocked by him in France.

What do they have on these guys that no one will open their mouths and say, "Hey, you were asked a question. we're here legitimately - are you?. Please answer it, or tell us you don't want to answer it and we'll treat you the way your party treated the "%th Amendment Communists" in the 50's."

32. Well...uh...you see, it's just that...hmmmm...okay, I've got it:
The banner that Karl Rove had set up on the USS Lincoln backfired, so when that happened Rove claimed that the banner he ordered was actually 100% the idea of the freedom-lovin' patriots ABOARD the Lincoln, and that NO ONE from the Bush administration knew ANYTHING about it in advance.

You see, it's just like Karl Rove's good buddy Bob Perry...the one Rove called when he needed funding for his Swift Boat Vets idea. Except Perry isn't THAT good of a friend, just like Bush only met "Kenny Boy" Lay once or twice a long time ago, and Rove says he hasn't seen Perry in over a year. But he somehow saw him to arrange the whole Swift Boat thing, even though...

THAT'S IT! This press conference is OVER!

39. The clip on the MSNBC site ends right before (or during) the question
Bush ends his "we will honor their memory by continuing to fight" speech abruptly, followed by several voices trying to get his attention.

I didn't watch the clip when I made the original post...no way of knowing if that has been "trimmed" too.
