We have ups and downs here at DU, depending on the day's news and whether a little bit of it gets out or is totally suppressed by the White House. But there is a sure-fire way to keep up your spirits.

Do something. Every single day.

Write one letter a day - in hard copy, snail mail - to a newspaper somewhere in the country. Don't miss a day. Imagine the impact of 60,000 DUers writing one personal letter to a newspaper every single day between now and the election.

Not enough? Need more? Other ideas for fighting the big money corporations that are taking over our country -

Buy all your clothes and necessities second-hand. Shop in thrift stores, on ebay, at tag sales. You'll be taking money away from WalMart. How sweet it is!

Grow your own food or buy it from coops.

Buy books at your local independent booksellers, except....

When you want to make a statement, buy liberal books from Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble, to chase the lying Rethuglican books off the best-seller lists.
