Tweety: who cares what happened 30 years ago?
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 11:23 PM by dennis4868
As good as Tweety was during the Swift Boat Vets for Bush fiasco for 3 weeks he gave it lots of time and kept playing over and over their damn ads.

But what really gets me is that this whole issue with Bush's national guard record (or lack thereof) is really not so much about what happened 30 years ago but it is about Bush's character and his ability to tell the truth....over and over for the past 5 years and as recently as a few weeks ago in the oval office Bush has told the american people that he served in the Air National Guard and did everything that was required.....he has always said this....but as more and more facts come out it is obvious that Bush is lieing onece again.

Just like the repubs said during monicagate that it was not about sex but instead about Clinton's character and ability to tell the truth and be honest with the american people....this whole Guard issue is not about what happened 30 years ago but proof that Bush's charcater is not what the media wants us to believe it is....this goes directly to his character....

1. Exactly. He keeps harping on his "honorable discharge"...
Which he got the same way he pushed his way into the Nat'l Guard - i.e., w/Poppy's influence. Now it's all the more obvious.

3. It's because of bush's blowing off the Air National Guard
in Texas, Alabama, Massachusettes, and whereever else..denotes a pattern for his life. And that, tweety, involves us all.

7. Here's what Matthews said on August 25th
when the SwiftBoat Smear was in full bloom:

"What I would like to see as the moderator here is a debate between John Kerry and George W. Bush over John Kerry's war record."

You're right in that Matthews did seem to take Kerry's side, overall. But he kept the entire smear controversy topmost in the viewer's mind. He was obssessed with it for 3 week straight. He milked it for all it was worth, studying the consistency of every fart that Kerry or his detractors made. Now that Bush's own war record is at issue, suddenly what happened 30 years ago doesn't matter. Why isn't he now calling for a Kerry-Bush debate over BUSH'S own record?

8. it's not just Tweety......
seems like many in the media (CNN, MSNBC, etc...) want this to just go away....they milked the swift boat vets for 3 weeks and damaged kerry and they are through with vietnam for now....

There is overwhelming evidence that Bush went AWOL or even worse was a Deserter and many in the media dont seem to give a damn....these are very serious charges.

What would the media do if the guys on the boat with Kerry all of a sudden say that Kerry was really not there....would the media act cautiously with the story and not go ull force invedtigating this....hahaha!

10. Lou Dobbs made a 'commitment' tonight
to not cover any more about "what happened 30 years ago". It was right after the White House correspondent gave the spin from the WH. LD then made the statement that from now on they are not going to cover the stuff. (period)

Hopefully the print media will keep it out there though. I'm trying to find a bright spot out of the media's self-imposed gag over covering news (which this stuff IS) about Bush. And I'm thinking that it may be a good thing after all. Why? Because of the ads that are coming out about Bush's service and the new records to back it up. The ads will run and the media won't be discrediting the advertisers. They won't get the free exposure like the swiftvets for Bush, but the public also will not be hearing/seeing a discussion about the ads being false. hmmmm

9. When Bush is asking National Guard Reservists to serve years....
not just weekends in illegal combat, with no
end in sight and he treated his very expensive
taxpayer paid flying lessons like a hobby, Americans
have a right to ask about his character and ability
to tell the straight out truth about that service,
which he hasn't done.

Aside from skipping out, he hasn't been truthful,
which says a lot about someone.

11. The whole SBV deal was a two horned attack -
One horn was an ugly smear against John Kerry, but the other was much more Machiavellian.

The other side of this attack was based on the knowledge that people would eventually grow weary of the story, and demand that the issues be brought back to the present. Riding in the wave of this sentiment, Bush can hide his AWOL adventures, knowing people will not want to listen to any negative stories about whether he served in Vietnam.

Bush is an expert liar.

He and his crowd of lickboots will stare America in the face and say that the records which prove he was awol are actually proof that he served honorably. With public opinion growing tired of Vietnam allegations, Bush knows that he'll not be called on this lie.

No one seems to have both the balls and the credentials to call Bush out on this. After all, we're all just so sick of this whole Vietnam ordeal...

12. YOU and your esteemed colleagues cared, Tweety
as long as it was hurting Kerry, that is.

You gave the Smear-Boaters the run of your airwaves until you could no longer ignore the evidence that they were vengeful frauds with illegal ties to the Bush campaign. Yes, you got burned, but the reason WHY you got burned is because the Smear-Boaters sailed on a sea of lies.

With George's AWOL story, you've GOT a story, complete with hard evidence, witnesses, and credibility. Your journalistic juices should be flowing like Niagra Falls, but instead you're hanging back like a jilted teenager who's afraid of getting hurt again!

If the thing continues to be talked up by campaign operatives, it will continue to be covered on their gab-fests.

People enjoy the spectacle of privilege exposed and derogated, and will be drawn to this business precisely because it is a tawdry thing....

22. Did Matthews get a call from Rove?
I was applauding Matthews a few weeks ago when he was grilling the Swifties and Zell Miller.

Heard him on Daily Show joking about being blackballed. He's now trying to get back into the administration's good graces.

Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 06:17 AM by girl gone mad
I turn it off if Tweety's being an asshole.

I don't understand why anyone here watches it on a regular basis. We all know most of the media is against us. Stop giving them your business.

Get a list of their advertisers and cc your angry e-mails to all of the advertisers, too.

Get smart and stick with trusted blogs, tell your friends to stop watching.

The cable whores are just leading you on. Don't think they don't know what they are doing. If you want to know how well it's working, my 85 year old grandmother (diagnosed with Alzheimer's) - always a liberal in her younger days - has decided to vote for Bush, because he is more likeable. She just doesn't like that Kerry guy. She can't explain why or anything, she just doesn't like him. Watching the cable whores all day will do that to you.

25. The LIES about the awol
I said this last night. It's the best way to make this relevant today. Of course, it's most important because dereliction of duty is a pattern of behavior for the little schmuck, but LYING is supposed to be a big tadoo with these right wingers. We've got to harp on Bush lying about his completing his service.
