Media: Kerry Probably Hero, Bush Probably AWOL, Let's Call it Even
What the heck is wrong with the press? The charges against Kerry were flatly contradicted by the official record, where as the charges against Bush appear to be supported by the official record. True, Bush received an honorable discharge, but there seems to be scant evidence to support that decision. It seems pretty obvious that Bush received an honorable discharge, not because he deserved it, but because his father was a VIP. And hasn't that ALWAYS been the case with Bush? Isn't that the reason why he got into Yale and Harvard Business School? Isn't that the reason why his failing oil business kept getting bailed out? Isn't that the reason why he became an owner of the Texas Rangers? And isn't it the reason why he's in the White House today? After all, the Supreme Court doesn't rewrite the Constitution on a one-time basis for just any plaintiff.

1. it's the cable media
I have to hand it to the print journalists... they ARE doing their jobs, they've been prodded. Maybe they finally got tired of being jerked around; maybe it was that comment last week at the RNC convention when somebody called the media "scum" (I forgot who it was)... but whatever happened to wake these guys up, I'm damn glad. I hope something sticks, for chrissakes. It's GOT to.

2. Equating these two charges IS ridiculous
The media's idea of neutral coverage is to present each side's case without any mention of context or facts. One case is objectively more valid than the other, but the media fear being seen as biased (think tanks of the GOP have been hard at work on that one) and they crave ratings so these scandals are kicked around for days at a time.

3. Agreed, we are really talking about CNN and MSNBC here.
Forget Faux, they will never come close to objectivity. The Hardball show tonight was grossly unfair to Kerry, basically giving the coWard a pass. Same with CNN, except for A. Brown who at least gave the new info a fair airing.

Anyway, there is no way your title line is acceptable. One, the coWard lied and perpetrated a cover up. Two, Kerry suffered because of the Swiftlies, and now the coWard must suffer even more.

No truce.

4. oddly this is an example of class differences amplified by kerry's service
1. kerry understands social responsibility, bush doesn't.

2. bush is another chicken george.

even though kerry himself came from wealth, his volunteering and serving in viet nam contrasts drastically with bush's use of the class privileges of the wealthy to avoid social responsiblities.

kerry understood that to whom much is given much is expected, while bush who was given much just wanted more, more, more.

kerry rode to the sound of the guns, bush high-tailed it in the other direction.
