TIME OUT. LEMME GET THIS STRAIGHT. So the WH releases Killian
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 01:57 AM by Mayberry Machiavelli
documents that they had been hiding all these years, suddenly, because 60 minutes had gotten a hold of them somehow and were showing the world?

Is that what has happened here?!?!

I was really confused. I watched 60 min. They didn't explain where these new documents came from, which are DAMNING.

Then I'm reading this AP news story about "WH releases documents". And I'm like, "Oh, 60 min got it from the WH. Huh?"

IS THE WHITE HOUSE BEING EXPOSED AS HIDING THESE DOCUMENTS ALL THESE YEARS? IF SO THIS IS A HUGE SCANDAL, OF THE FIRST ORDER! ISN'T IT?!

2. I think the WH is trying to confuse people

Into believing that *they* are the ones who released the documents to CBS. You have to admit that they are good!

4. It's very confusing. Some reporters, and Op/Ed writers, need to write
a few articles with just this headline: "White House had hidden Killian documents until hand forced by CBS".

Documents then conveniently discovered under a stack of porn.

3. It is. Bush repeatedly said he "released ALL documents"
WASHINGTON -- Countering attacks on his service in the Air National Guard, President George W. Bush on Friday ordered the release of all of his Vietnam-era military records.

Hundreds of pages of documents detailed Bush's service in the Guard in Texas and his temporary duty in Alabama while working on a political campaign there in the early 1970s.

7. The only likely explanation is that they wanted to...

Kill the 'are these memos for real' story, hopefully shortening the news cycle. It means that they just want this over with. It probably will have a short news cycle, because there is no human face to the counter story. However, ANYONE from Texas who served in Vietnam (and ergo did not get a cushy spot in the TANG) could put a human face on the story.

Remember, these were in Killian's personal files, so there was no need for the WH or DOD to release them with B*'s file.

8. But how did the WH have them to release, if they were just in Killian's
personal file? My impression is that they had them already but had "hidden them" since the picture they painted was none too flattering. 60 Min got hold of them somehow, and WH was busted and had to release what they had.

It's still not entirely clear to me.

9. They clearly requested Killian's files at some point
Who told them to look in there is a mystery. However, considering the paper trail in the military, it might be obvious to look in the CO's files if you are worried about the facts.

10. There would *be* no news articles today
about the WH releasing documents unless they had withheld documents in the first place. Behold the emperor's new clothes!

/sarcasm (Yes, you are sane.)

11. The Washington Post is livid
because they had asked for these memos and then the WH releases them in 2 minutes after CBS got them.

13. Conspiracy Theories Aside

Take a look at current events and see if this makes sense.

* & the pugs are pushing for a "National Intelligence Director", which would strip both power and funding from;

1) The Pentagon

2) The CIA

3) The NSA

4) The FBI

These guys don't give a rats ass about who sits in the White House. It's about power, nothing more.

I would look to these agencies to be the source of all kinds of dirt on shrub.

I have a feeling there will be more of this, not less.
