Will News of Bush's Cowardice/Mendacity Sway His Faithful?
No- nothing will persuade his supporters to give up on the politics of bigotry and greed. It's their only hope- barring they should suddenly become honest and educated- of 'turning a profit' in a world dying for peace and justice. I doubt if it'll have much of an impact on the 'undecided', either. I mean, what the fuck are they still 'undecided' for, anyways, at this late stage in the game? Sorry, but all sympathetic-to-Kerry-non-voters are going to have to get out there and vote if Kerry is to win.

1. Bush could dump Cheney ...
and announce that Osama Bin Laden is going to be his running mate, and there would be plenty of people who would support him.

Blind is Blind, and not much is going to change that.

Cheers

2. No offense, but get real....
At this point there is nothing this guy could possibly do that would bring his 40% following to admit their guy is a loser and that what those crazy lefties have been saying all along was true.

3. Bush could roast babies on a spit on the white house lawn
and serve them as appetizers to all the demons of Hell and 45% of Americans would still vote for him.

4. We could probably get that down to 44.5% if he sodomized them first.

5. And the damn talking heads would be on TV justifying it!
Praising it, in fact.

The people WANT to be ignorant of the facts. Facts just get in the way.

6. I agree. It's not really about Bush. For those who came into his camp

because of their single issues...the right wing fundies...it's all about power. They always felt disenfranshised and without a voice.
They are not about to risk losing it again. They still haven't figured out they've been used.

As for the extremely wealthy Bush supporters...well, we know what they value and they certainly feel in their bones that they, like Bush, simply don't dirty their hands or worry their 'beautiful minds' with messy things like war.

The undecideds probably tend to be mainly from the right hand side of the aisle; people who's pocketbooks have somehow suffered due to Bushco, or who think they will soon. Or those who just mindlessly voted Republican in 2000 because that's what they've always done, but are now shaken by the extremes that the neocons have gone to.
And then there is the gay contingent on the right as well, and the libertarians who are beginning to see just how big Big Brother is getting. Of course none of them will be swayed by the topic of how Bush tucked his tail and ran, except for the Vets from those groups.
Other issues will hold more weight with them...the economic game plan.....the war and it's costs....international trade relations....
medicare and retirement issues...etc.

9. He could give a speech telling them he hated them and he
will be doing everything in his power to make their lives miserable and they would still be cheering him, that is how stupid and how beyond hope they are.

12. no
unfortunately.

That said, the Kerry campaign needs to start emphasing his record as President and not as an ANG LTJG.

Lost jobs (tax breaks to companies keeping their jobs here)
Higher health insurance costs (some sort of regulation, opening Canadian pharmacies to US markets)
rising energy (new energy/transportation policy)
deficit spending (higher taxes, controlling spending)
lack of plan in Iraq (nuff said there)
veterans benefits (raise them)

among others

13. Hate and Fear
Those emotions are what is driving millions of people.

The hate what has happened to America and blame it on the Terrorists and that includes Iraqis and Afghans and for some most Muslims.

They fear another attack.

W and the Neo Fascists fan the flames.

15. i think the myth is that lots of repukes are true believers
and i've never thought that except for the lunatic fundie folk.
the sad news is that the american character is sadly lacking and shallow.
these people aren't patriotic about the war in iraq -- they haven't been asked to sacrifise a fuckin thing, have they?
they don't care about bush' mendacity or his character -- they care that they get a tax break -- they care that they get their palms greased. that is about the most intelligent thing you can say about 50% of the american population.
the rest is romantic, propaganda type hawg wash.
with the chief hawg in the white house.
