USA Today is a useless rag
USA Today is useless. On the day after the revelations about W getting high level help to get into the guard, avoiding his physical, and disobeying direct orders--there big headline is "Bush well ahead in Ohio and Missouri".

The media is working its heart out for Bush. Unlike the month long exposure they gave to the Swift Boaters--I hate to say it, but I think the Bush revelations will be here and gone in a blink. Why? the media won't cover it because they are doing W's bidding.

Even CBS Morning News this morning dealt more with their new poll showing Kerry 7-points behind than their own 60 Minutes story. They had Bob Schiefer on wringing his hands saying that Kerry is going to lose unless he can find something to turn it around.

The media in the United States is pathetic. They create stories of their own liking to suit their own purposes and don't cover real issues. If Kerry is elected he should work to abolish the media trusts.

1. I thought they did their AWOL stuff yesterday
I think USA Today actually tries to play it straight down the middle. At least they make the effort.

2. Am I right.....
when I say that Bush has comfortable leads when you include only "likely voters" but it a tie nationally and in many battleground states when the poll includes "registered voters?"

5. YEP.....
when Kerry was leading in the national polls among registered voters and likely voters, the media only showed us the results among registered voters because it showed a closer race....now it is the opposite....it is so obvious that this media is in Bush's back pocket.....

7. USA Today is owned by Gannett, and yes, it is a useless rag
Gannett is a right-wing multi-media conglomerate, and no, they don't play things straight down the middle. Among other things, they tried to spin the recount results and later repeated right-wing talking points about Iraq "kicking out" weapons inspectors. Check the articles on the FAIR USA Today/Gannett page for more.

Disclaimer: I used to work for a Gannett-owned newspaper in a Red state. It is neither an experience I would care to repeat, nor would I recommend it to others. The particular paper for which I worked endorsed Shrub for Prez in 2000, and subsequently repeated every RNC lie about Gore they could find while simultaneously ignoring or downplaying troubling things about Bush's personal history: Alcoholism? A "youthful indiscretion." Alleged cocaine abuse? He says he hasn't done anything like that since 1974, so we won't ask him any followup questions about it, like, say, what he had done pre-1974. Insider trading allegations when he was at Harken Energy? The SEC "cleared" him. He says he's going to run America like a business--and mind you, he's run all of his previous businesses into the ground--but hey, at least he isn't a liar like that Gore fella.

9. Anytime you have CNN/USAToday/Gallup involved in a
partnership, you can always assume the fix is in.

Did you know they poll together?

10. And what happened to 1,000 dead?
Is anyone else PO'd that Bush never has to answer to developments like that? So 14 soldiers were killed in one day...and the media asks Bush how his faith has played a role in his policy-making.

And BTW, anyone else notice that if Kerry's up by 5 points it's a "dead heat" but if Bush is up by 2 he's "AHEAD"?! WTF is up with that?
