How to respond to: why is this coming out now?
Q: "Why is this coming out now, just fifty-five days before the election?"

A: "How long would you prefer this story be kept under wraps, then?"

3. Because the Bush admin managed to keep it quiet until now
They intended to keep it quiet until after the election, of course.

Major 'Globe' Report Appears as AP Gets New Bush Military Records
By E&P Staff
Published: September 08, 2004 10:00 AM EDT

The Associated Press, after being told by the White House in February that it had released all of the President's military records, inexplicably got a new batch of documents from the Pentagon on Tuesday.

6. Sour grapes and crocodile tears .....
IF they can dish it out, can they take it ? ..

Apparently not ...

I would FURTHER point out: The real issue isnt what Dumbya did 35 years ago, though what he did reveals his core character ....

Would is CURRENT is his LYING about his military record: He may have flew the coop 35 years ago: but he is LYING about his record today .....

It is reasonable to attack his credibility TODAY ....

7. Just say you agree
and thank goodness it came out before the election so that all voters could have a clear view of the president's lifetime of shirking duty during wartime and subsequent lying about it for personal advancement.

12. Because W has stonewalled everyone
for as long as he can.

Remember in 2000 he refused to answer questions about in NG duty and/or release any of the records, because he was still just a candidate for the Presidency and he considered it a private matter.

If W had been honest with the American people four years ago, this wouldn't still be an issue.

13. Clarification: I know. My post was suggesting our talking point.
I've been working this story for months, see my web site from my profile.

I am saying: We need to have a snappy come-back, and I think "How long would you prefer this be kept under wraps, then?" is a funny thing to snap back at the Republicans.
