12. No, that wasn't it at all
Jebbie had always been groomed for a run for the presidency, but lost out to Georgiepoo when Georgiepoo said he could bring in the fundy nutcases more efficiently. Since his daddy blamed his 1992 defeat on the desertion of the religious reich, the deal was sealed. Both had been vetted by Tim LaHaye, and Georgiepoo was found to be more palatable to the religiously insane.

Jebbie will get his turn in 2008 unless we manage to catch him in bed with a young boy with multiple cameras available, about as likely as the Pope on a pogo stick. So brace yourself for another Bush campaign, different brother, same shit.

17. Read an article in People where they asked him (Georgiepoo)
about future Bush presidencies. He said there WILL be one.

22. I think they wanted Jeb first. But Jeb lost the governor's race in 1994.
W won. He had 6 years under his belt as Gov. of a major state by the time they needed "a Bush". That sealed the deal. It would not have been possible to run a governor who was just starting his first term.

As you say, he was being groomed. They wanted him to run for president. But he blew it by losing.

I agree the religious stuff helped seal the deal with W, though.

What has always amazed me, though, is that these guys are the best they can come up with. I mean, they're sons of a failed one-termer!! A guy who left the country in a recession and lost the WH to the first Dem in 12 years!

Then they come back after 8 successful Dem years and run... his SON? A son who had never accomplished much of anything his whole life, whose family connections even got him the governorship, and that was only something they decided to do to groom a Bush (or two) to run against the Dems in 2000?

I mean, can't you even go outside of the immediate family. If the Bush's are the best the country has to offer, God save us all!

5. Well, Jeb is smarter... more likely to think for himself. But Jeb...
... is also a signatory to the PNAC charter.

7. exactly ...
He's good ol' boy and appeals to middle America, while being just stupid enough to be a puppet for the corporate masterminds. I really think he believes that he's in control. Jeb might actually have a brain.

3. There was that spot of trouble....
...when US Customs caught Mrs. Jeb smuggling $16,000 worth of new Paris clothing into the country and hadn't declared them on her customs form.

4. I think that Jebby was the longtime choice
to carry on the Bush dynasty. And I've read that everyone was surprised when W entered the race for Gov in TX back when. Jebby was always the smarter, calmer, more rational and successful one of the bunch.

It seems that loyalty is indeed the controlling trait among the Bushies. Once W entered the political scene, Jebby being junior stepped aside.

I have no doubt that Jebby would be just as big a disaster as W. They'd both appoint the same type of scum. And that's where the big problems come from.

6. W had something to prove.....
he's a better man than his whimpy father...father penis cynthrone. He had been the black sheep of the family. Once billy graham saved him, it was all smooth sailor for the drunk.

with the "brown" wife, the crackhead daughter, one son arrested for public sex, and another son i think arrested for a dui, it would have been suicide.

(the first comment isn't meant to be racist - it's a reflection on Poppy's statment a few years ago about loving all his grandchildren, even the "little brown ones"...)

and bkcc - i didn't mean to reply to you, jsut the thread in general. i'm such a n00b. sorry!

10. Jeb has quite the S&L scandal in his background.
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 01:36 PM by sadiesworld
I can't recall the specifics but it involved forgiveness of a $1-2M(?) million debt and Jeb kept the property used to secure the loan. Of course Poppy was VP at the time. My husband worked for the RTC back in the day, and as a native Floridian was SHOCKED when Jeb won the gubernatorial race.

Jeb is a card-carrying member of the BFEE.

on edit: By forgiveness I am referring to the taxpayer-funded bailout. :silly:

Neil was Silverado I believe. Don't know about Marvin--is he the one selling education software?

As an aside, my husband was a moderate pug until Whitewater...said it was the biggest bunch of hogwash he had ever seen.

18. Marvin's dirty, too
Mavin suddenly and inexplicably resigns from the board of Del Monte:
http://www.sptimes.com/2003/01/03/Columns/Another_suspect_deal_.shtml

Marvin's nanny's odd demise: http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/101003_bush_death.html

Marvin's business connections: http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.phtml?title=Marvin_Pierce_Bush

All four Bush brothers were peripherally involved with the BCCI scandal. A Google of Bush + BCCI will turn up a lot of stuff.

There's also extensive tinfoil hat stuff out there about Marvin and his contract for WTC security prior to 9/11.

Happy reading.

They knew if they kept shrub in Texas and brought jeb in the race, they could have a harder time with Florida. Winning Texas was no problem.

16. Call into Randi Rhodes-- or get someone to-- she has the facts on Jeb
The list is too long to mention.

S&L Scandal

Dealings w/ organized crime

Family scandals out the wazzoo

Jeb is the scarier one as he is the one who's done more illegal things than his idiot son of an asshole brother. (at least prior to 2000)
