About that campaign in Alabama that Dubya was to work on.....
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 01:24 PM by kentuck
How many campaigns had he worked on up to that point? Since he was such a slough, who would really want him to work on their campaign? With everything that was happening with the NG at that time, I do not think we have heard the truth about the "Alabama political" campaign. Could it be that went to Alabama to work on the campaign as a cover for his "demotion" or whatever was about to happen to him at that time? No, he wasn't sent to Alabama because he screwed up in Texas and was not permitted to fly and because he failed his physical and refused an order to take another? He was demoted to Alabama but to preserve some dignity in the Bush family, they said he was going to work on a campaign? At least, that wasn't as embarrassing. No doubt, someone called the Alabama campaign and requested that they accept Dubya's help on the campaign. It was an excuse for why he was not flying anymore and was a cover for Bush Sr....

Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 01:30 PM by Ted206
According to his military records, before the Red Blount campaign, GW worked for one other campaign:;

George Bush for Senate, where he served as "Surrogate Candidate"

This from the AWOL project here:

5. "GWB's Missing Year"
Check out this Salon article if you haven't seen it yet.

Former Bush family friend, Linda Allison and her late husband, Jimmy, were asked to take care of Boy George during his time in Alabama. According to her:

-H.W. considered Shrub a "political liability."

-Bush was a paid campaign worker, yet no one could figure out why, as he "showed up late and left early," after bragging about how drunk he was the night before.

-When his candidate lost, he got drunk and Allison later saw G.W. Bush out in the parking lot, urinating on a car.

-Dubya trashed his rented house, yet when the owner submitted a bill for reimbursement, she was ignored.

8. Salon article!!
OMG, that Salon piece is chilling!

Barbara IMO is truly an evil monster and her maternal instincts have to be derived from Angela Lansbury's role in the original "Manchurian Candidate".

No wonder that * is such an ass!

13. Yes, doesn't Barbara sound horrible!
And H.W. certainly sounds like a jerk, although a little less obvious than Babs.

Allison's story of dropping her cancer-ridden husband off to visit the Bushes is heartbreaking.

('Sorry, Kentuck, if I'm hijacking your thread! :spank: )

9. He lists them on his request for the 9921st
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 02:05 PM by Heath.Hunnicutt
This is a link to Martin Heldt (user name: coldfeet) scan of the request to transfer to the 9921st Signal Brigade:

(the link is h tee tee pee: // users.cis.net /coldfeet /doc7.gif)

Notice that he lists this civilian experience:

Red Blount for Senate - Campaign Management
Stratford of Texas - Assistant to executive vice-president - 1 year
George Bush for Senate - Surrogate Candidate

He lists this military experience:

Pilot, Fighter Intercept \ squadron level 1125B, 1/Lt.

I never noticed before that on 24 May 1972, he listed his qualification as 1125B and not 1125D. That is fascinating!

11. That indicates how deceptive and sneaky he really is....1125B !
If his classification had been 1125D, someone may have asked "why aren't you flying then"? A conscious effort to deceive, in my opinion.

15. from Salon
There are also indications that Bush -- unwilling to fly, take a physical or report for duty -- was trying to mislead Guard officials with his transfer application. When asked for his permanent address, Bush listed the P.O. box for the Alabama campaign headquarters he worked for temporarily. When asked to note his Air Force Specialty Code, Bush wrote down 1125B, the designation for F-89 or F-94 pilots. At the time of his transfer request, both of these planes had been retired from service in all components of the Air Force, including the Guard and Reserves. Bush's accurate code was 1125D, designing an F-102 pilot. At the time, F-102 planes were still very much in use. It was an error Bush made more than once on the application. Lukasiak writes: "The odds of Bush being able to scam his way into a non-training unit would be enhanced if his specific skill set was one which was no longer useful to the Air Force."

10. He hasn't changed.....Jesus only bailed him out again.
<snip>
Bush left a house he'd rented in Montgomery trashed - the furniture broken, walls damaged and a chandelier destroyed, the Birmingham News reported in February. "He was just a rich kid who had no respect for other people's possessions," Mary Smith, a member of the family who rented the house, told the newspaper, adding that a bill sent to Bush for repairs was never paid. And a month later, in December, during a visit to his parents' home in Washington, Bush drunkenly challenged his father to go "mano a mano," as has often been reported.
