I'm Increasingly Convinced That Bush Gained Ground
not primarily because of the swift boat veterans or any message coming out of the convention, but because Bush got MUCH more face time on TV during August.

Kerry was running his campaign, but he wasn't advertising and he wasn't generating headlines or soundbites on the evening news.

This is good news, because things will only get better from here. But it's a law in politics as well as advertising that you have to get a certain share of your audience's mind and attention.

2. I agree
while the SBL ads were playing - there was nothing of Kerry except small clips on the news - which on cable is the talking heads commenting on his activities - nothing from Kerry himself.

At that time Bush had his ads, presidential coverage on the news AND repeating the SBL ads over and over on news shows. It was a blackout of Kerry.

4. Buxh had no dire terror alerts after his convention
Even though international terror is at an all time high this week, it's campaign, campign, campaign.

Is Tom Ridge on vacation?

5. Dim son gets free coverage every day in Florida
However, when the electricity has been on and I've had the tv on, I've seen a lot of John Kerry ads. Bush is trying to take advantage of the hurricanes to improve his image and his brother is boosting him every chance he gets.

The images of the bushes handing out cases of fresh water are so staged, I don't think they really help him. A lot of promises are being made about helping the tens of thousands of people (if not more) with substantial property damage that aren't going to be timely kept.

Gasoline and food shortages continue with large areas still without electricity. Power outgages are checkerboard throughout my area. Promises made to property owners during Charley were not timely met. These people suffered heavy damage during Frances. Failure to deliver will hurt resident bush. If the recovery is expedited it could help him in Nov. with Florida.

6. That's a good argument for taking polls with a grain of salt...
In fact, I ignore them.
